Can Tho, Vietnam mekongtour... seemed to be in a hammock taking a nap – following the locals we do the same after our fish lunch.

Unknown to us before, we later learn that we have a 2 hour bus ride to get to another boat. Okay – except the 2 hour bus ride turned into a 4hour trek over non-paved roads in a van with no suspension. By the end of the day our backs were sore from being jerked around.

So that was the bad – the good was the view and the time we had to
Day 2 was my favourite riding day except that my bottom remembered way too quickly that it was sore again!! Today riding was across islands and on and off ferries. ( about 6 in total)

As we cycled along lush, overgrown shady paths we often had to duck so we wouldn’t hit branches of fruit ...
Sadec Mekong Delta, Ten Bai, Vietnam hilaryramsey... it is quite noisy so my ear plugs and face mask curtisy of Quantus will come in handy. We got some food western style as we weren't in the mood for rice and noodles and went to a bar which served bangers and mash! The sausage were awful compared to home standard but they tasted awesome! We also treated ourselves to a chocolate pudding too! Had a beer and went to bed.

Can Tho, Vietnam alyson.morgan... find something to eat. I have been living on rice, fruits (which I cannot begin to tell you what they are called) bottled water and bottled beer. Those are the only things I have been willing to try so far. I have not taken the leap to order the snake yet but since that seems to be the most common menu item I am not sure how long I can avoid it.

We did order a drink from a street vendor in which the juice from a sugar cane was squeezed out into a cup ...
Can Tho, Vietnam meclayt... we sat in the moonlight as we sailed to our over-night spot on a wider part of the river, where there was a cooling breeze. We feel like we were able to see the heart and soul of Vietnam today, and having a guide to translate and explain what people were saying really enhanced the experience. We felt like royalty!

(We booked our cruise through Asia King Travel on the recommendation of a lovely French couple we met in Halong Bay, les Duponts - merci!)
Sa Ðéc, Ã'á»"ng Tháp, Vietnam emmaandpaul... conversations before repeating his talk. We arrived at the entryway to the Mekong region and hopped on a tourist boat that took us to see Coconut candy making, some unique alcohol distilling. RiceWhiskey, Banana Whiskey, etc. The rice whiskey with the Snake fermenting in it ****, by the way. We then got in dugout boats and cruised around the back water. Very pretty. Almost like a ride in Disney. A few sun drenched hours later ...
Can Tho, Vietnam donmiller... on the bikes over here. From here it was a taxi to the 'bus station'. Our bus ended up been a 7 seater SUV that dropped us exactly where we wanted in HCMC. This full service experience definitely turned out to be worth the extra money and after the local bus experience a few days earlier I know Erica definitely appreciated it. It amazing the roads for the full 3 hours back to Saigon were crazy busy. The whole route was also lined with either houses or industry. Vietnam had ...
Can Tho, Vietnam jonclark2000... morning however my close relationship to the toilet put an end to that. Nik whilst mopping my fevered brow and doing her best throwing up impression to a local chemist for tablets managed to rearrange the trip for the next day. Oddly enough we didnt go anywhere that day and I managed a short walk in the arvo. By evening my appetite was ...
