... originals from well-known masters. We only managed to see a small part of the collection. We completed the evening with dinner at La Sanabresa, a restaurant about 4 minutes from our hotel. Judy had also looked on trip advisor and found great reviews and comments including one about a colorful waiter named Joaquin who has been likened to Sadam Hussein because of his bushy, black mustache. We got the last table in the house and the place was jumpin' ...

Also, we do not claim for this to be a guidebook full of "correct historical facts" but rather an expression of experiences. I remember from a previous blog on Ireland how we wrote that Strongbow was an Irish hero, he surely had a large enough grave site inside a church, just to be corrected by a comment from an Irishman that knew and his tory, he corrected us by letting is know that he was ...

Day 3, our final full day in Madrid, commenced with a good sleep in. We woke, showered and headed out in time for a late lunch at one of the restaurants in the square down below our apartment. Everything looked quite proper from a distance, with linen table cloths and waiters standing around welcoming passer-by's in for a meal. However, once up close, we were further reminded ...

Everywhere that I travel I have an encounter with an elderly man. Today as I stopped for a moment to put on a poncho, a little old man appeared smiling. He shared some of his wisdom, "happiness does not exist, you have to go looking for it". He said he went out looking for smiles today and found them in three strangers. I told him that I was starting to collect smiles and that his wold be my first.

I told Nat at 10am that I didn't get any sleep last night, she simply replied "I know", Confused I asked her how and she explained that "no one else in the house slept last night"; I couldn't help but laugh at her confidence in saying such a ridiculous thing! After getting up, I discovered that she was actually right, no one slept last night - Amparo Snr (Lala), Nando, Nat or Diana! They had some superstitious reason explaining it but I wasn't really bothered to listen.
