About 45 minutes saw both the prosecco and the tour finished, and ourselves better educated in the matter of gondolas, inheritance of the family business and traditions, the limited licences available (only 125) and the problems when there are two sons but only one license! Quite an experience!

... Soak it in, there’s not that many sights anyway. Wander down the narrowest alley you can find, have an espresso to the saddest man playing "Sunny side of the street" (gave him a thumbs up and he smiled =), enjoy a book while you watch the sun set…sipping on some spritz (my last visit) and stick out your arms to see if a pigeon will flock on in search of promised food, stare astonishingly at all the amazing Murano glasswork. ... stopped at the souvenir shop located halfway and Beezel purchased a rosary. Before you ask, she is not even Catholic but she thinks nuns are awesome and it was awfully hard to go in and not make a purchase, as exclusively nuns staff the shop. Presumably you would have to be getting a good price for everything, what with the whole poverty vow thing.

... The Doge’s Palace is incredibly luxurious and well preserved. Part of the museum includes crossing the Bridge of Sighs, where prisoners allegedly sighed as they saw the last sight of the water and the sky before they were incarcerated. We duly sighed as we crossed the bridge!
