Day 2

Good morning Venice!!!

I woke up too early as I'm still used to Yerevan’s time. At about 8 o’clock the bells from the church near us began to ring. It was wonderfull, maybe for many of you it is usual but for me it’s something extraordinary, as there are no bell towers in Yerevan, and no ringing bells. Only in the main square and it is automatic, not real.

We went out of the room and felt the ...

Venice, Veneto, Italy fedckHello Friends and Family,
Today started out much more calm and relaxed. It was a beautiful day, sunny and around 60. Spent a few hours looking around and walking the back streets with the locals. It was really amazing, the small streets and the thin people. The market was cool with the fresh fish, fruit, etc. We then had to use the restroom, aka "Toilet" which is something that is almost impossible! I think there ...
Venice, Veneto, Italy lucy1279... the complicity of the reception staff, by organising a romantic tour to Venice. This wonderful and unique town is so near to Abano Terme. The reception staff has organised a car for me, a trip on a gondola and booked one of the best restaurant in Venice with a view on the Laguna. They arranged a bunch of flowers that I wanted to surprise my wife when we got back at the hotel. They also suggested a jeweller not far from the hotel. After lunch, with ...
Abano Terme, Veneto, Italy gbhotelsabano... over 5 miles.
A lot of people told us we'd visit Venice regularly over the next few years while we are stationed in Aviano....and I think they might be right. Venice is an enchanting place, and the food is pretty darn good as well.
Allen and I are hopeless romantics, so this place seems to suite us well. ;)
Venice, Italy nikmarks79... a long time the only one that stretched over the Canal Grande. Now it is packed with shops and vendors, not to mention tourists trying to take a photo of the quintessential panorama of Venezia: a rainbow of pastel and orange colored buildings lining the banks of a large canal filled with gondolas and beautiful boats. After a half an hour of photos and wrong turns we were back on the trail to Piazza San Marco. Soon we found our way and entered the vast square of St. Mark. In front ...
Venice, Italy kenbeyerlein... else like it on earth and it would be a crime to never see it at least once in your life. Given the environmental challenges that Venice faces, it seems even more of a crime not to have seen it. Venice has a charm that is absolutely unique and both Bridget and I were blown away by it. It also has a dark history of control, where the state encouraged its citizens to spy on each other and where activities were deemed "not to be in the best ...
Venice, Italy andoandbridgetI,ve arrived and I,m in one piece. Sort of...a bit jet lagged but about to have a nap. Venice is...fantastic, beautiful, unique...SPECTACULAR. There are tons of little streets to get lost on-most are quiet but some are crazy busy with tourists. It was really easy to get in and find my hostel-everything translates to english easy and isn-t hard to figure out. There-s the Grand Canal running through Venice but there are also a ton of little ...
Venice, Italy rachaelnicholls... of my time there. She was begging by the Santa Croce church (final resting place for Michelangelo - the Florentines stole him back from the Romans - Machiavelli, Florence Nightingale, Leonardo da Vinci, Rossetti and Fermi) and I declined her request for funds. She, irratated by my reticence, shook her cup at me, and I said No. She hissed and spat at me, and I replied 'Back at you.' I may have mitigated her curse somewhat by this speedy, if dull retort, but it made me nervous! So ...
