A month later
... annoyance is something FAR more annoying. Fireworks go off at all hours of the day or night. I mean ALL hours of the day or night. Noon. 3am. 6am. 5pm. 10am. Any time of the day and sometimes all day there is a constant booming.
Other than that, life is pretty good. I have to take a trip to Hong Kong soon, and I am looking forward to discovering a new city.

Arrival at last.

Ended up in Fenghua a half hour drive south of Ningbo where the school is located. My new workplace is a franchise branch of the Shanes English Schools network. I have a little one room apartment until the teacher I am replacing leaves and I move into his emptied apartment.

... very pretty. There were a number of small towns on the way too. Collections of maybe two dozen buildings, mostly houses. Those showed up more frequently as the we approached the transition to a city.
About halfway through the journey there was some discussion about the seating arrangements. Chinese train tickets list the car, then the seat number. Because I was in a car normally used as a sleeper, I assumed the room number was the seat number. ...
Big ol' Ningbo Update
... of taking care of their people's health judging by my one experience in a Chinese hospital.
The ordeal over, I caught another cab outside the hospital grounds. As I was fastening my seat belt, I noticed that the driver had his on too. Something I have literally never seen before. I said "You do rightly! My friend just had a [smashed my hands together to indicate crash here] and I just left the hospital." He responded. "Oh. Yeah. You should always wear a seat belt." ...
