Minder blij waren we met de duizenden vliegende mieren. De overlast viel uiteindelijk erg mee.
En nog wat beelden van rond Alvor, een heerlijk oord om voor anker te liggen.

I made it to Lagos yesterday. Its basically a beach/party town. The second place that I walked into turned out to be a really great room for 25 euros a night complete with my first english language tv of the trip. Today I spent part of the day in Sagres, the southwestern most point in europe. Good for pictures and walking really really far. Tomorrow I´m going to attempt to get to Seville.

... like it. That night we went to dinner as a group and then headed off to a bar called Joe's Garage. Everyone was dancing, drinking, meeting people just an overall good time. The bartender lit some shots on fire as girls danced on the bar. Good times.

The next day we went on a Sangria boat cruise along the coast of Portugal! It was absolutely breath taking. I've never seen water soo ...

... to snowboard. But, that can change if i make it my second home.

So, i go to Lagos and meet Natalie on the train, she was from seattle. Her and this other canadian from Ottawa were on the train, though, on the way there, i chose the same place to check out as Natalie, so we walked to our respective hostels. ... to Belem for the famous egg tarts at Pasteis de Belem - the mecca of all pastries. During our journey, we unfortunately saw a darker side of Lisbon as Emily was the almost victim of a pick pocketer. As we boarded the tram, a woman who looked like a tourist placed her coat over Emily's purse and rummaged through her bag. Luckily Emily felt her attempt and shouted at her to back off. Nothing was taken, so it was all good.

We had a great hostel - one of the cleanest I've ever stayed in with great facilities - 2 kitchens and a roof-top terrace with BBQ, a top manager called Arthur who sounded Russian even though he was Portuguese, and we were lucky enough to have a great group of people staying there with us, so we made lots of new friends to hang out ...

... lucky to have her in my life & I'd really like to get a replacement ring.

If anyone is visiting and is able to drop off a few rings to a nearby resort. My friend owns a timeshare and the people at the resort will pay you to make it worth your while.

That's all behind us now (including being last through customs in Faro - but we got plenty of travel advice and tips). The hotel we are calling home in teh Algarve over the next 5 days is called Monte do Casal and it is fabulous! Notwithstanding that they upgraded us to a Suite with our own private terrace with views to the ocean. Will upload some photos of the hotel (where no kids are allowed), but before we do that, some welcomed sleep is needed.

... i was on my 3rd lap of Lagos trying to find hostel- turns out the last pub i was at was only 50 metres from my hostel but i turned left instead of right and ended up walking for about an hour... still managed to make it back for breakfast so i was pretty stoked. ... desparity is obvious between the rich tourism crowds and the locals. Makes one wonder about EU funds. We found the Portuguese to be very, very nice people and incredibly friendly. I tried my best with the language, but it was so different from Spanish--I had no idea. To read it on signs and menus, the language was somewhat easy to cmopare to Spanish, but to listen to the locals speak, I had a difficult time. Here's some examples I took from a ...
