Hi all,
We moved more south to get more heat. Hoping to avoid all the mad Europeans looking for the sun and sea we decided to try Silves. It is about 30 km inland from the southern coast of Portugal.
We are now parked in a sea of motor homes all obviously with the same idea in mind.Mostly French and German silver tops (ie old people like us). Not a kid in sight, but lots of dogs, and big ones too. The strange thing, almost to the point of eeriness, is how quiet it ...

I'll admit, living in the Rockies and along the Pacific Ocean had me thinking I had seen what the world has to offer when it comes to natural beauty. Lagos totally took us by surprise with it's turquoise waters, surreal sandstone formations, adrenalin inducing cliffs and wacky hostel buddy (Hugo). Indeed, I am now convinced the world has beauty secrets I could never have imagined.

After some chilly days in Grenada and Seville, we were still rejoicing ...

Silves (sounds like Silvesh) is a lovely town. We drove from Portimao about 20 kms. Castello was interesting, built by the moors (Arabs) including a 1.2m litre water tank dug in the rock. Now you can walk inside. Used for over a 1000 years and retired in 1980's. Not bad ...
