I ho I ho, itºs off to Praia Mos(pronounced Mosh) we go... itºs another beautifully warm day in surfville, Lym and Annabelle all tooled up with picnic, drinks, waxed boards and a whole load of optimism as we arrive at the mosh pit. Lymºs in first, Annabelle ...
... since we left the UK). We learn that there is a campsite in the town centre. Initially we viewed this with some trepidation and indeed it was less than rural surrounded by apartment blocks, however, cheap (euro 10 a night) clean and run by a very friendly Dutch lady; ideal for a couple of nights of cosmopolitan living (Lym gets to put his jeans on for the first time since leaving the uk).
so Saturday night on the town... for starters we had a ...
Another typical Porto Covo morning: bright, blue and upon inspection, very large swell; too large for us. Decision time - do we stay or move on? It was easy and unanimous, time to break camp and hit the road once again heading south. We looked at a couple of likely surf / camp destinations, until opting for Odeceixe, a town which straddles both the Alentejo and the Algarve ...

We also went to check out the lagoon, I got out for a couple tacks, the wind was super light and I crashed my kite and it deflated... fun. I had to walk my kite back through shallow water ...
... not "surfers" but we we’re much less scared of getting tossed by the big waves this time. We also came to the conclusion that it maybe wasn’t us that, but that it’s the size of the board that was hindering our performance....

... street level we had lunch at a café, found another tourist info centre (that was closed - well, it is Friday afternoon in December) and then we drove south out of the city. More poor signposting lost us time in finding the road to 'Punta Umbria', which turned out to be a practically deserted holiday town on the south coast, so we then followed the back roads eastwards, looking for a place to stay. The hibernating tourist areas were ...
Faro, Algarve, Portugal harryandnorah... You are a very nice looking couple... Do you understand what I said?" We smiled, thanked him and thought maybe he wasn´t that annoying after all. That is all from Faro. We are writing this on our flight from Faro to Madrid (for about €30 each by the way). We have had a fabulous time in Portugal and feel that we covered much of what the country has to offer. For such a small place, it is ...
Faro, Portugal meganandkevin... t be able to hear her and I'll be able to get some sleep. So I pushed abd prodded until my ear canals burned with pain and I could feel the effects of mild temporal brain damage. The plus were quality, I could hear nothing of the world around me. Yet her snoring vibrated through my aural barriers with a power that could have won any low rider bass competition. She had a snore that could, literaly wake the deaf. After two hours or more of covering my head with various items ...
Faro, Portugal sandramorrow... renewing my interest in guitar-type music. Hmmm. So that was a whirlwind couple of days in what is a very pleasant and mellow place. I can see why so many Poms and Germans are settling in the region, retiring mainly to the mountains nearby. And it would be a place I'd consider basing myself for a while for its proximity, year-round climate, amenities and ...
