Arrived after a short uneventful journey. Campsite similar. Weather changeable.

Tourist sites do not always live up to the flowery language used in the brochures eg. "Musicological Nucleus of the Salt" turned out to be a Musee de Sel. We did not go.

The local beauty spots, like every where else, that we did go to were covered with ingrained litter.
We are moving on tomorrow.
Figueira da Foz, Beiras, Portugal mikeandsuecuffWe arrived without incident after a short and pleasant journey. Odd campsite mainly permanent encampments! Most of them looked like they had been there for many years. We were entertained by families arriving over the weekend to pack up for the winter. They cleared out all the rubbish that they had accumulated over the summer. They then covered their caravan.awning and covered area with tarpaulin and tied it down and put stones ...
Aveiro, Aveiro, Portugal mikeandsuecuff... cafes. It's got one of those beaches that's so deep, it takes about half an hour to actually reach the sea, a bit like Southport, except that the walk is still there even when the tide is in! To facilitate all this walking it's criss-crossed with long boardwalks and even streetlights, and of course when you do reach the sea it's a lovely blue, unlike Southport! One day we drove the 35 miles to see the ...
Figueira da Foz, Beiras, Portugal oldagetravellerWe had our longest journey -should have been 7 hrs but turned out to be 10 after the highway was closed. We had lunch in Salamanca and I want to go back. Superb architecture and one of the oldest universities in Europe with signs of enlightened learning on every corner. We shared an amazing dinner of local fare ...
Figueira da Foz, Beiras, Portugal hollingers... enough just to fit a car.

We then drove back west to Alcobaca. The Cistercian Monastery of Santa Maria was closed, but beautiful enough from the outside. Even at Batalha the Monastery was closed but the square around, was beautiful for a short rest stop. Tired by then we thought of dropping Fatima, but decided to drive up, as it was not far from our ...
Coimbra, Beiras, Portugal savla78... keltide ajal. Roomlased seadsid ennast sisse 1. saj pKr, mil see kasvas ja õitses suureks linnaks. 3. saj olid elanikud ohustatud sissetungijate eest ning ehitasid enda kaitseks linnale kaitsvad müürid ümber. Kahjuks polnud see piisav sueevidele (germaani hõimude rühmale), kellel õnnestus 468.a vallutada linn. Kohalikud põgenesid Coimbrasse, säästes sellega Conímbrigat suuremast hävingust. Seetõttu võib ...
Conimbriga, Beiras, Portugal pille... sajandi kellatorn, mida kutsutakse a cabra (kits), sest igal aastal toimub seal esmakursuslaste rebasteks ristimine. Ristimine ei seisne mitte füüsilises, vaid vaimses piinamises. Noored tudengid reastatakse kellatorni juurde üles ja seejärel hakkavad vanemad kursuslased neid sõnadega mõnitama ja alandama seni, kuni ristitavad panevad padavai kodu poole jooksu, ehk siis nagu kitsed kabuhirmus.

Praegu elatub linn kolmest T-tähega allikast: tanning, textile, tourism ...
Coimbra, Beiras, Portugal pille... there are walk ways. the water was way to cold so i just sun baked. We went out that night and got a fantastic seafood dish which was cooked in a big copper pot, and had a lazy night watching movies. We were going to go surfing while we were in figueria but the surf didn't end up being any good and it was quite expensive to hire boards and a wet suit, so we skipped it. Went for a quick swim and headed to Porto.
Figueira da Foz, Portugal laine... the hostel and have a few beers and a games of pool with the gang. Good chats and then tasty meal. The heros rest. Scene 4. Goodbye Hastie and Adam say a teary goodbye to all the cast of Franz Ferdinand collect their logies and other associated acclaim and head to Portugal. Franz Ferdinand Bay sadly failed to get any rating after its two central characters left, and sadly was axed by the ABC and replaced with Benny Hill re-runs. Much love Adam Speilberg.
Figueira da Foz, Portugal drewapHello...

I'm in Portugal now. Last I wrote was in Toledo, I think...I took a night train to Lisbon, where I stayed for one night. It's nice, as far as big cities go, but it's a big city. It's very diverse and the people are real laid back.

After that I went to Sintra, just west of Lisbon. It's a little town in the mountains. Lots of shade, green, and fresh air. I spent many more days there than I planned to. The first night I arrived ...
