Brisbane

It was a really great flight to Brisbane as the views were stunning all the way down - up untl we were about to land in Brisbane when it went all cloudy and a bit windy!! Susan (Bates) Met me at the airport and took me back to her apartment where I was to stay for two weeks over Christmas. Felt really spoilt as have my own roon with a foam mattress on the floor, very different from the hostel life I was starting to get used to! Susan was working for a few days so I entertained myself. Caught ...

Meltdown........

... Our flight to Rarotonga was departing at 4.30 so we knew we’d be spending a night in Auckland.

Someone from Qantas needs to fly Air NZ one day and learn what service should be. Everyone was quietly (amazingly) ****** off and that crew did their darndest to make everyone happy. They did a great job. The funniest part of the flight was the meal service.

By the time service started it was well after 1pm Briz time. Many people were in ...

Sunshine versus Gold

... know the right tire pressure and couldn't be bothered hanging around for low tide, we gave it a miss and went to Noosaville for lunch. Noosaville is a small town that joins up with Noosa, but is on the estuary and has no sea (Ocean as the Aussie's call it) front. It is pleasant but more for the blue rinse brigade than for us young, free and single gals. Instead we spent most of our time at the little beach village of Sunshine soaking up the friendly ...

Maybe I Should Have Followed The Thai Stewardesses

... for the next week. And I was able to build on my "most favoured parent" momentum the next day, when Sarah had a repeat "bleed" at the zoo. ("Keep your finger out of there, girl!") I was quick to give her a napkin, and pointed out to Tracy that my approach was better than what I imagined her response might be: telling Sarah to flick some of her blood into the crocodile pen to attract the animals for a good action photo shoot; · Having fun cross-pollinating ...

World's best job - or world's worst contest?

Sore losers? A PR campaign gone wrong? Remember the contest to be caretaker of an island? The Brisbane Times ran this story: Tourism Queensland's Best Job In the World campaign has been slammed as the worst run contest ever by shattered hopefuls prevented from submitting their applications by repeated website failures. Fifty people, from more than 34,000 applicants worldwide, were this morning shortlisted for the $150,000 "island caretaker" job on the Great Barrier Reef - a ...

... at all the animals. Lucky i'm so immature and joined in. That afternoon I flew to Brisbane to see Cat, another cousin, not the animal in England. It wasn't in my original plans to go, but as I am such a freespirit I threw caution (and dollars) to the wind to see my cuz. I arrived at the airport to be greeted by her looking completely awestruck - afterall the chubby little cousin from England who she remembered had turned into this manly hunk of muscle and ...
