It was a really great flight to Brisbane as the views were stunning all the way down - up untl we were about to land in Brisbane when it went all cloudy and a bit windy!! Susan (Bates) Met me at the airport and took me back to her apartment where I was to stay for two weeks over Christmas. Felt really spoilt as have my own roon with a foam mattress on the floor, very different from the hostel life I was starting to get used to! Susan was working for a few days so I entertained myself. Caught ...

... the airport with no sleep and only a copy of "Notes from a Big County" by Mr Bryson to keep me inspired, its deya vu as I am hunting for an internet facility that will allow me to print. In the end a nice lady noticed me wandering around aimlessley, a bit emotional and cursing my lack of organistional skills. She led me over to her work station at Juicy Rentals and allowed me to use her computer to print off my visa confirmation. I did explain to her ...
Brisbane, Queensland, Australia travellinpixie... to see how they are, Gerogia was asleep, but Fergus was up, he is not a well baby, teething maybe.
I am kinda over airports, but if this is the price one pays for super cheap airfares, well so be it, am not sure who knows, but my departure from Auckland was traumatic, I was actually travelling on one of ...
... t know me all that well. His beautiful fiancee, Ashleigh, is coming along as well, and I'm going to try as hard as I can to accommodate her on this baseball-focussed trip. I feel for the girl, because we are baseball crazed nut cases. But we'll make it fun. :)
The 4th piece to this team is Jordan, who lives in Washington State and attends Virginia Tech. How does this guy fit in? Well, I guess I initially knew Jordan ...
So stage one is over. I survived the flight over to Oz and am currently bunkered down at my Mum's place, trying to avoid Australians. Not an easy task, I can promise you!! We are rapidly preparing for stage two of operation 'Alex, Kylie, Mary, Lydia, Norma, Ian, Andrew and Moira got the the UK' (if anyone has some suggestions for a better operation name then feel free to submit them ...
Brisbane, Australia aready... On our last day there, we picked up our "campervan". Campervan might be a rather grand title for it... Its an old government van which has two seats in the front, cushions you put down at night for your bed, a gas cooker, and to top it all off our one has Jesus in a fish painted on the side and "Honk if you know Jesus" on the back. To say that we attract attention may be a bit of an understatement especially with Ben having a slightly Jesus-esqe appearance just now! Loving the van!
Brisbane, Queensland, Australia ben-n-jenn... later. It came in fast and I was sure that it go pass the dock and have to back into the dock. But this was an experience pilot with a boat that had better brakes than I imagined. Just as he came to the pier, the boat stopped quickly like a bus on dry land. It was a large boat with ramps on the front and back of the boat. The center was covered with rows of seats. The seats were in two sections bordered in the center by the isle way and on the outer edge by large windows ...
Brisbane, Queensland, Australia danharriet...
Brisbane, Queensland, Australia pacificocean... sensation and an altered perception of what was beyond the white mass, it felt like we could just step off the railings and would float gently to the ground. The NP camp site was closed because of all the bad weather and further thunder storms were forcast, we certainly didn't strike lucky with this particular weather system. We camped the night in a mainly residential place where the locals were friendly enough, and watched the storm from ...
Brisbane, Queensland, Australia kevandrach... all massages, as
is "french custom" . I suggested as I was newly arrived they should
each give me $100 as per "kiwi custom". Talk of massages ceased.I
did try to hunt down some swing dancing goings on in Brisbane last
night, but alas no go. ALl I could find were introductory lessons and
no social dancing :(. So with no dancing for entertainment and not
really wanting to head to a bar with the french boys I found myself
meeting up with 3 other couchsurfers for ...
