... the dunes wasn't too bad, just one part was pretty steep and the sand kept slipping but getting to the top was well worth it. The funniest thing was running down the huge sand slide. I wasn't a fan of having half of my shoe full with sand though.
Later on Wednesday:
Arrived at the University of South Pacific in Suva met with the Pacific studies staff and had a kava ceremony right when we go to campus. Afterwards we were introduced to our Host family. I had an awesome dad named Atu ...

... 1 day and you can see what happens when we go away for the weekend with the dust. Luckily you can pay $5 for it to be washed and vacuumed.
The Coke games came and went in April. Pam's school had 6 athletes competing.
Last weekend we went to Wananavu Resort, about 2.5 hours driving north. It was amazing. The water colour is so clear with all the different shades of blue. Have to get back there to go diving soon. Pam found herself a new 4 legged friend.
... so we all jumped in the boat and headed off to the island, or sandbank should we say!! He just dumped the 6 of us and drove off and left us on this pile of sand in the middle of the ocean!! Not a tree, nor a hammock in sight....just a round bit of sand!! I never thought when someone said before " if you had to bring three items to a desert island, what would it be?", that this would actually ever happen. I asked Phil while we were sunbathing and he said "my ...
Suva, Central, Fiji philandkatrina... try to "warn" the tourists about how bad personal security in Suva is; we suspect there is also a "stay-at-the-resort-and-spend-all-your- money-here" motive behind it). Our first "target" in Suva was the Fiji museum, where we expected to see the largest collection of Fijian and Polynesian artifacts in the Southern hemisphere (at least this is what the museum ad was saying). While located in a beautiful public garden (a reminiscence of the colonial times, we ...
Suva, Viti Levu, Fiji gapostolOn Monday 29 September 2008, I set sail from Suva on a journey to the Kadavu group of islands. They lie to the south of Viti Levu, and are known for being beautiful, rugged and wild. Many of the islands are uninhabited, and are fringed with flourishing reefs. There are a few resorts scattered about the islands, but tourist facilities are sparse. The islands represented the chance to realise a dream; exploring an unspoilt tropical ...
Suva, Viti Levu, Fiji fyrelizard... ahead of its time and a food court opened last week with a kebab shop, Japanese, Thai and the usual Asian and Indian food. We tried the Thai and it was disappointing, so hopefully the other food is better. The kebab place was a big hit for the 1st 2 days, but at $8 a kebab I don't think it will last too long. Life at work is still chaotic. Sales are struggling and I will probably be sacking our Resort Manager tomorrow as he is doing ...
Suva, Fiji fiji-travellers... to help. This is also a bit scary as they expect me to have all the plans and answers and our sales results are terrible at the moment. To digress a bit and talk work for those Coke people. -The IT people are so friendly and helpful. No calls to 6111. I just walk 3 metres from my office and knock on their door. The 3 people sit right outside my office They come straight away and fix my problem. - Decision Support have 6 x Jez's here. I ask once and ...
Namuamua, Fiji anneristo... coach adult teams including the Fijian army team. We use to coach them once a week doing fitness work and would start at 6am coaching them. They were very fit as most Fijians are and we would have to go to the barracks each week to coach them and of course we would get involved with the fitness as well. We also coached an adult village team about 30 Min's outside of Suva as well which was a real highlight for me coaching rugby out in Fiji. The team had very little ...
