... Blonde for Tim and off
we go...
It's hot hot hot and it's
going to be a long drive but a damn sight better than the bus I can
tell you that for sure!! An hour and a half down the road later and
we get to Cue... this is where Rach who I met in Perth and Verity
whom I met in Leonora work!! Small worl really considering we are at
least 700km from either of those places!! Tim asks if I want to jump
out the car and say hi so I do...but turns out the first ...
... old chat about that sort of thing and also related on the front of never having seen a honey badger (which we bothe desperately want to see!). Dinner was delicious and served as almost a half silver service, sort of equivalent to a military Mess Dinner (but the food was even better, haha!)
The next day, I had breakfast with the giraffes again, this time Arlenne who is the most huggable (literally because the others headbutt everynow and then or kick but she is extremely ...
... A few pints later and we hit the dance floor. Jamie by this point is out of it and showing off his crazy dance moves and I am checking out the guys. Not too impressed although there is some older geezer who looks a little like Karl Kennedy.
We leave and Jamie gets kicked out and we head up the road. Ito the hostel and I am met by 2 guys hollering after me to get me to go back out with them but after a few minutes of deliberation I opt for bed.
... I have only been been doing about 100-200 kms a week - all good stuff and a solid base, but not nearly enough for a ride across Australia in 30 days!
Marcus has done a bit of cycling, but not consistently - he has been a paddler, doing the Avon Descent a few times. So, he has had to do a lot of cycling to feel confident to do the trip.
Between us, we have done over 20,000 kms ...
... go by. Also went an irish pub and had a shot of ouzo at an English pub. Bad idea. We then headed to Matt's mates for their housewarming. Was a good little place there, just gutted it was pretty cold sitting out. I also got rather too hammered and felt pretty dodgy - blame it on the ouzo! But I was made to battle on and we ended up back in the city. Was much busier than the Wednesday night, a pretty standard Saturday night out I suppose. We ended the night with a shisha ...
Perth, Western Australia, Australia mikeettyCan'tRememberAF***ingThing That is the result of my high school reunion. It was a modest turn out (Facebook hasn't reached EVERYONE in Oz yet!), but I still struggled with names and faces. Thankfully someone passed the name tags around right when I got in a sticky situation with someone who clearly knew me! Older, fatter (except for one guy who had lost a bit of weight and was BUFF!) and oddly, blonder, in hair colour ...
Fremantle, Western Australia, Australia ronia... bikes. We come to an intersection which will either take us back to the settlement or out along a 10km stretch to the end of the island. Realising that there is only one point on the island to get food and its approaching lunchtime we head back to the supermarket and get enough stuff for sandwiches. Heading off again we pass dreid up lakes and more stunning scenery, including the view back to Perth, the skyline in the distance and the huge cargo ships in the channel in between. We cycle ...
Perth, Western Australia, Australia adam_and_kim... cooked food! We now survive on ready to eat noodles and toast!
On Tuesday we drove first to Hillary's harbour to see all the boats and then around the city itself as we have not really seen it yet. We drove across the causeway bridge to the other side of Perth so we could look back at the skyline from across the river. Then we went up to Kings Park which is quite high up and so we got a really good view back over the city. There are ...
