Ballarat, Victoria, Australia alessa... longer than expected due to one of the speakers propensity to orate way, way too long. What was sad was that she didn't have much of relevance to say. Because we were so late at the graduation we were unable to attend Kari's graduation party. My son Daniel met me at the Orange County airport. Him and a friend of his named Wayne had driven from Indiana in Daniel's Jeep. The Jeep was loaded ...
Ballarat, California, United States fatoldbiker... water color. I was curious and wanted to know what he was painting for there was this big blue construction vehicle thats was a crane in few feet in front of him and I thought who would paint a crane in a beautiful park?... surely I went over and looked over his shoulder and saw that yes he was painting the vehicle. It was really good. I told him I liked it. And Like all artist I know when u say u like something they always come back with a excuse of how it could ...
Mailing Rd., Australia carolinesheart... and I wont be suprised if I find my self unable too... But probably the biggest impression made overall of the whole trip was the pollution and this is also the one thing that cant be captured on film or in words but has to be experienced.... As we drive done the Tullamarine freeway on our return the clearness of the sky and the air which was just air (!) is something we will both try to periodically remind ourselves not to take for granted in the future.
Melbourne, Australia themurphys... golf course was no longer allowed to use the river water for the course and nobody can water their lawns except by using grey water. Yarrabend was a nice course but unique because they had a colony of flying foxes which roost along the river. Flying foxes are actually bats, huge bats, which even when roosting make a terrific racket squeaking and fighting and when they fly the wing span seems about a metre.
Melbourne, Australia pstp... lunch with his brother and sister with darron as well at the Warrandyte pub. Christmas day saw Chris join his brother and had lunch with their Mum, and Darron and myself join my family at Rosebud for a wonderful christmas lunch Mum & dad came down from Coffs Harbour, chris came down that afternoon and we spent a week down at Rosebud but unfortunatly the weather wasn't that good we had a few good days for the beach. Had a afternoon in the boat ...
Warrandyte, Australia wanderingwoosie... Instead of him wishing me a merry xmas, he told me in a very casual fashion, I would not be needed anymore. Im polite , but that's were it ends.....he hired the annoying girl to replace me. Well of course I was speechless. It was only a few minutes later when I was retelling Lilli the story , the reality of my situation hit. a few tears were shed, but nobody needs to know that cos I was wearing sunglasses. It will be impossible to find a job over the next 2 weeks, because ...
Melbourne, Australia lillirenee... no internet cafe. None. I am not joking about this, there is one hostel which is really just a cool old-western hotel village with barracks, but have not internet here. So the two young monash geologists who are here to research volcanic activity asked me the same question - what the hell are you doing in Ballarat? So I hung out for a day, and caught the train back to Melbourne. Seriously though, it's like going to Alberta and hanging out in Camrose. Nothing.
Ballarat, Australia fourloves... sends out a spike which looks like a kangaroo tail. The view from the top was pretty and we watched the water cascade over a 40m cliff into a deep blue pool. After MacKenzie Falls we visited the very pretty Boken Falls which is a few hundred metres away. The falls cascade in a number of separate falls into pools which then fall into other pools. Both the Falls are part of the large resevoir system which keeps the area supplied with water. We continued to retrace our route ...
