Wednesday 20 August 2009

Today has been a good day. Spent a full day at Sovereign Hill, a living history museum of a gold mining town in the 1850s when gold was discovered in Ballarat. Brilliant day as there was loads to do and the people working there were really interesting and knowledgeable. Highlights of the day included candle dipping, visiting the sweet shop and seeing how they made boiled sweets, a ...
Ballarat, Victoria, Australia alessa... camping supplies, firearms, ammunition, and other items that barely left room enough for two people to sit. We were met at the airport by Becky's son Mark who has a Hummer especially modified for off road driving and so began the journey across the Western states towards Indiana. Wayne and Mark rode in the Hummer while Daniel and I crowded into his Jeep. Our first stop was a semi-ghost ...
Ballarat, California, United States fatoldbiker... better. So I told him sorry to bother him for he looked uncomfortable and went on my way to have a coffee and get something to eat. While I was walking to Mailing rd I had these thoughts of figuring out how I could have made the older man not feel uncomfortable.. how about if I told him a lie like.. my grandfather died and I used to sit and watch him in my back yard. Surely a sympathetic story would brake down his walls. But I didn't for I would have fooled him ...
Mailing Rd., Australia carolinesheart... loved by eveyone at the base, I thought it would be easy... It was a blessing to hear some one be so loved, but also so confusing... its challenge not to take it all in.. Im so sensitive sometimes. Saturday I worked and was told Im a machine at work for I get the job done so fast... Im in the Zone. After work I was alone at the Gate house for everyone went to Geenas engagement party (who i see allot but dont know). A thought ran by my mind ...
Melbourne Surreyhills, Australia carolinesheartToday, I stayed in Brunswick. Went for a walk around the neighborhood. It's amazing the stuff you can grow here. There are olive trees, citrus fruit, I believe the neighbor is growing persimmon, but I'm not sure, I saw a banana plant, but I am not sure it grows bananas (I don't think so). I took a few pictures of the neighborhood to give an impression. Heute bin ich in Brunswick geblieben. Bin ein bißchen in der Nachbarschaft herumgelaufen. Es ist ...
Melbourne, Australia rootaberger... my brother leigh took me for a ride with niece Lara on a double buscuit towed behind the boat, I couldn't stop laughing. New Years day was our annual family cricket match with about only 40 relatives making it this year and it was a good day had by all. Then it was off to stay with our friends (Coralie & Dennis) at Phillip Isand, we had a fantastic and relazing time there and the weather was better for swimming which we had a good afternoon in ...

Melbourne, Australia lillireneeWe arrived at Ballarat today and stayed at a camp site that was approx 500m from Sovereign Hill, a 1800's Goldmine Town. Sovereign Hill is a purpose built 'themed town' to show you what the goldmines town used to look like... they even have a river in the town where you can pan for gold (that is put in the river each morning - only specks, but you catch my drift!). We went did a tour of a 'pretend ...
Ballarat, Australia sjw_uk... the night before, this time in the hope we would see some original aboriginal rock art. The art is very difficult to date, but it is believed to be around 20,000 years old. The aborigines are one of the first cultures to express themselves using art. Our first visit would be Ngamadjidi Shelter (the art was produced in rocky shelters). As the shelters are off the beaten track, we ended up driving along dirt and gravel tracks. On the way to Ngamadjidi we got our best photos ...
