... into Turkey up to Istanbul. So I wasn't quite up to speed like I normally would be, relying more on Old Mate's planning. For a brief second I had a feeling of anxiety about what to do for tomorrow and the next 5 days. Old Mate had essentially given me just over 12 hours notice that now I had to know what to do on my own, and 7 of those hours, I would normally allocate to sleeping. We always enjoy the days when the ship is in port, because the decks are empty! We know that Bodrum is a beautiful beach town, but we have been to so many fabulous beaches, we decided to skip it. I know that we will be back to Turkey, so we will have another opportunity to visit both Bodrum and Kusadasi.

... knoll in the centre of the harbour and is just as impressive inside despite the killer steps to its summit. We retrace our way back through the markets and succumb to some of the delights of a more than impressive looking Turkish patisserie. Back at hotel some time later and then dinner at seafood restaurant a few doors down. The Octopus was divine despite the excruciating wait. Milk in our tea - thanks to all the Brits who now call this place ...
