has been away, so lying around the pool has been nice. But it has not been the
same without Karen.
I went over to Bev and Rick’s place at another RV park for
supper along with some of their friends from Cold Lake;
it was nice to get out.
Friday night was a wine and art show. I worked in the kitchen
and served wine. Karen will be coming home from Cold Lake Saturday at 8PM so I
will be driving to Pheonix to pick her up.

Just into California
We continued on toward San Diego today. Driving Rt. 8 to Winterhaven brought back memories of when I was around 8 years old and my family - Gram, Gramps, Mom, Aunt Louise, Uncle Herman and me - took one of our summer trips. We had gone to the West Coast, down to San Diego where Uncle Herman was stationed in the Navy at the beginning of WWII, (was also in the brig there according to him), and drove Rt 8 East. ...

... appalling to see this. We continued on to Yuma and were pleasantly surprised. Unlike other border towns Yuma has a nice bustling atmosphere. Probably because everything is green you don't feel like you are still in the desert. They have been irrigating using Colorado River water since 1912 with various canals and aqueducts and now Yuma is the winter vegetable capital of the world. Huge agricultural complexes but ...
Day 2 - A turn for the better
... having to worry about fluids, since I knew trusty Johann would be waiting at the agreed upon points. Well, half the time anyways. The lower stress levels made for a much more enjoyable ride. Even having been through this stretch of desert before, I am still struck by it's size and desolation. There truly is a whole lot of nothing out there, except for border patrol agents, who seem to be almost everywhere.

Near Yuma, and a day across the border!
Spending five days here at our membership park, right next to Yuma. Catching up on laundry, and yesterday we went across the border to Algodones, Mexico - a town filled with mostly American-trained dentists in spotlessly-clean, very modern dentist offices.
We both had dental exams and had our teeth cleaned by a dentist whose advanced classes were at Loma ...
