Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam sigurd... we ordered, cabbage soup, spring rolls, beef skews with boiled rice and some more coffee which this time tasted as if it had been made on carnation milk but was just drinkable. Never the less, lunch was welcomed and enjoyed as Dave and I rocked back and forth, as our train had now entered a more mountainous terrain, through withch long tunnels connected steep ravines on either side of the tracks.

... flight. Both of those came and went, before we were told our flight would be delayed. The kids were going mental at this point, breakdancing and running around. I got out my ukulele and played San Dimas Highschool Football Rules to the other waiting people, and of course to the kids, who danced around. Some guy came up to me afterwards and asked me to autograph his jacket. Strange.
Eventually, we boarded the flight and we ...

So there I was, very proud of myself for being on the right bus, having bought a ticket for 3000D even though the conductor looked at me a bit dubiously (I just thought we had a communication problem, I didn't realise that he was wondering why the heck I'd want to go to the place he knew the bus was going!)..and I sat back to enjoy the journey. It turned out to be a longer ride ...
... crawled through a section of the tunnels –
which our guide told us were expanded for “fat tourists.”
He did admit that the average Vietnamese now also couldn't fit the original
tunnels because Vietnamese eat better – and more often – than
during that time. The tunnels are claustrophobic and hot, not a lot
of air passing through. Again like at the DMZ – you ...
Visited the Cu Chi tunnels just near Ho Chi Minh City. These are the tunnels over 200km in length which the VC (Vietnamese Communists) used during the Vietnam war.
The tour included a video (which showed the war from a strong Vietnam perspective) and then to the tunnels. The tunnels are narrow and not tall, so i had a bit of a struggle in them - but this was interesting experience and hard to imagine what it must have been like ...

... 8211; mainly watching some TV (luxury!) in our hostel. Rich bought loads of snacks to eat whilst vegetating. God knows how many Pringles and Snickers bars he ate in Saigon – Fat Boy is back. I think maybe the devastating loss of his Frank Lampard crown to Andy inspired him to put on some weight. Needless to say, on his way to the mart he said to me ‘Mate – do you want any snicks [sic] from the shop?’ I wonder what was playing on his mind?!
