I do live a charmed life! I get up this morning wondering what to do. I haven't heard from any couch surfers offering me a place to stay in Copenhagen, though I would enjoy seeing more of the city, a hotel room is out of the question at over $300 per night and I didn't even think to ask at the hostel since the hostel website did say they were full for a few nights. My problem was what to do about my Visa card stuck in the bank machine. The bank didn't open until 10 and I had to be out of the ...

Göteborg, Västra Götaland County, Sweden josmaGothenburg proved to be a delightful second city. It was full of ethnic restuarants, shopping, and public transit in the shape of a tram or trolley. It's probably one of the only cities that doesn't have an underground. Even though it's Sweden's second largest, it's still feels quiet and small. I hiked to the top of a hill where there was a fortress that had been ...
Gothenburg, Swedish Lakeland, Sweden zenergized... even bought me a beer… nice people those Dutch. After St. Vincent I rushed off to meet up with Ben and Bevan to a museum where there was an electronic DJ type show going on. After a painful hour and a half wait in line to get in, I finally made it (at 130am). Once inside it took me awhile but I did manage to locate them, and we enjoyed some fat beats and bright lights. The walk home took me nearly an hour… and it was 4am ...

Gothenburg, Swedish Lakeland, Sweden kramertown... crazy and we were in that sleep deprived zone during our 3+ hour layover. But our flight to Goteborg was pleasant (can you say free Heinken!) and my mom met us at the airport.

Strange that an airport visited so rarely can feel so comfortable. It was exactly as I remembered it, small, clean and easy. We walked the 30 yards ...
Gothenburg, Swedish Lakeland, Sweden kramertownGot up at 8.30am and went to breakfast at the hotel. We then went on a walking tour around Gothenburg starting at Kungsportsplatsen square which was mostly a construction site covered in scaffolding. We walked down to Saluhallen, the market place of Gothenburg and then on down past the Cathedral. Continued on past the Antique halls and across the river to the East India ...
Gothenburg, Sweden tygaWe slept in later than we planned, but we physically couldn't haul ourselves out of bed any sooner than a little after 8 am. After a beautiful breakfast of the remaining food we had, stored our bags, and did some city exploring. We had read about a free zoo nearby so we headed for that. It was in a very large and beautifully green park, filled with mothers and children and many many playgrounds. It must have been school holidays with the number of kids out and the hordes at the kids ...
Gothenburg, Sweden dangabesisaak... water fountain begging to be skated on. It had even started to snow for us!!! When we got to the rink there was some middle eastern music playing and a marquee was up near by for the Iraqi elections. Music, ice and snow - what more could I ask for. Everyone hung around for a little while but then got bored because I was the only one with skates. The boys went off to have a beer in the oldest pub in Gothenburg and ...
