... YARN REPORT: In Alta, the LYS we visited was in the Parksenteret on the 2nd floor. Kilden is probably the closest we found to a North American yarn store. It had a wide selection of non-Norwegian brands, and a fairly good range of variegated and self-striping yarns. ... The further south we go the more traffic appears, particularly camper vans and caravans. The Norwegians love to camp in the summer. They head to the mountains to bush walk and trek though the mountains. We caught a car ferry across the fiord to save some time and then drove along the edge of this fiord to Tromso. As we went further South the fir trees appeared again and, at low levels, the vegetation was beginning to return. The sun is shining again ...

British - especially fish and surprisingly polar bears ( considering there are no polar bears in Norway) - and it was also a starting point for Arctic expeditions for hunting polar bears and seals in the 19th century. It is very much a fishing village. The city was badly damaged in WW2 & has since been rebuilt so very few historic buildings are still in existence. ... for the 30 minute talk, he wasn't there, turned up 5 minutes late, then couldn't get his laptop working, then couldn't get a video to play and finally he answered his mobile which had rung 3 times before!
