From there to Lords Tavern to listen to the duo in there who are pretty good, then to complete the pub run up to the Crows nest to listen to the John James trio who must have been doing the ships for a while now as we've seen them many times. ... in the pub, the show was Reel to Reel. Songs from different films, we'd seen it before but was good to see it again. It was 9:30 by then so we went and put our extra layers on and took the camera etc up onto the side area of deck 12 facing North. ... they had a 3D effect, which meant that the Northern Lights changed shape when you tilted the cards back and forth. We decided to get a couple, and when we got to the checkout we found they were 49 kroner (nearly a fiver!) each, certainly the most expensive postcards I’ve ever bought.

We then decided we’d go to the post office for the stamps, then find somewhere to sit and have a drink and write the cards out. As we emerged ...

... and restaurants wouldn’t open until this afternoon (by which time it would be dark!). As we couldn’t see much going on in our immediate surroundings, we decided we’d spend the day on board the Boudicca and go ashore tomorrow, as we were in port overnight. It would also allow me to give my ankle a rest.
