Today is my last proper day in Araraquara! I plan to return after my little week of travelling to pickup my suitcase but that will only be for a night, I'll have to leave early the next morning.
It has been really great living here for the past two months, the guys were excellent and I was so relieved that a few of them spoke English!
Tonight we had a BBQ, which ...
... sludge obtained from a local domestic waste water plant and sludge from a local Heineken factory. This meant I learnt a lot about bacterial analysis, something I've never really enjoyed before but being involved in something like this was great!
With this research group I visited lots of places and attended the conference in Sao Carlos, which were all great, they really made me feel part of the team and I wish I was staying for longer!
... on Saturday, there was an after party BBQ at a republica in the afternoon which was good because it was very chilled out.
Sunday when back to the waterfalls near Bueno and had coxinhas on the way back, probably going to be the last time for coxinhas of Bueno...
Next week is my last week at UNESP, I can't believe how fast my time in Brazil has gone...
Not really done anything too exciting this week, other than playing some futsal against other republicas.
The teacher and support staff strike that has been going on at UNESP is going to end and classes will start again next week. It's great because everyone is coming back to Araraquara and Canil will probably be full!
Around the chemistry campus it's been getting busier with people this week because the July vacation ended and the increasing ...
... minutes on the guy giving us a lift to Sao Carlos for 8 (we were late...). Similar thing happened on Friday too but we had to wait on someone to wake up so only left Araraquara at 07:50...
On the Friday there was a BBQ organized by the conference, with all you can eat meat and drink. It was great, got to meet lots of people and learn about their hometowns, work and life (in English mostly, but little in a bit of Portuguese!)
