Bahrain in a book

... a little about Bahrain from The Complete Residents' Guide. There is so much to read! Regardless of how much I read I can't get to grips with what I will expect to experience once I arrive with Ish.
I think one of my main concerns include dress code and local customs and well, communications so that when i get home sick I have the recommended phone and internet company connecting me with my family back in Australia!

... Echo Point entrance to the national park we could walk. Had wonderful views of the Three Sisters and hiked beautiful bush hikes. The second day we drove to Wentworth Falls Visitor Center, about 7 miles from our townhouse, and hiked the Valley of the Waters track. Even though the weather was misty again, this was the most beautiful hike we had ever done. I hope you can get some hint of the beauty from the pictures.

Canberra, the capital of Australia

... the bus around the city all day long. Canberra is like on big suburb. It's very pretty but it's all houses and trees (which, by the way, are starting to turn to their fall colors...weird). I guess everyone is right when they say there is nothing to do in Canberra. Luckily, I am only here for another few hours. I'm catching an overnight bus down to Melbourne tonight, so it's byebye Canberra. Pictures to come!

Facts about Australia by Owain Rose

FACTS ON AUSTRALIA A little over 200 years ago Australia was sparsely inhabited by the aboriginal people. In 1788 the first European settlers arrived in the First Fleet. From that small party we now have a population of around 18 million. The 2001 census showed there are 19,400,000 people in Australia on census night, an increase of 6.2% from the 1991 figures. The population is ageing with an average age of 34 years, with 12.1% aged 65 years and over. Of all people ...

The Federal Capital

... here than from the Australian National Museum. It was very interesting for us who learned the Euro-American version of history of the two World Wars, to discover the Austral-Asian view of the same events. The same divergence in vision could also be seen at the Australian Art gallery we've visited the next day. While there were plenty of the usual works of art reflecting the European Renaissance and beyond, the collections of Asian and Pacific art were really well ...

... the now bright sunshine and at first there were thick forests for miles before they slowly opened out into rolling farmlands, with miles of fields and just a few woods here and there. It was quite an impressive change of scenery. From this high plain we could see Canberra in the distance and particularly at about ten miles away there was a fountain visible in the city centre shooting high into the sky. Mid afternoon and we were ...

Happy Christmas!

... 24 hours a day in their household) and chatted for most of the morning and afternoon. We looked around the garden, read some of their books, and just relaxed. It was great. In the late afternoon we set off for Allison and Shuji's house for a Christmas dinner. We had met them the night before, so we were old friends at this point. Their house is very interesting, in that its got influences from both Australia and Japan. They had a great brick wood-fired oven built in their ...
