... the outskirts of Amarillo and stopped for a few minutes at The Cadillac Ranch. In 1974, a local man paid some "artists" to place these Caddies, tail fins up, half-buried in the Texas soil. Springsteen wrote a song about the place a long time ago. Since the cars first showed up they've been stripped and vandalized almost beyond recognition – but not quite, as those tail fins are still prominent. I liked the place.

Once you've gotten in the air the balloon is very stable and you rarely notice any movement at all. The pilot is able to raise the balloon by turning on the burner or lower the balloon by opening a vent at the top of the balloon. He can also rotate the balloon by controlling vents on the side of the balloon. All of these motions are very slow and gentle and you don't feel them.

... the south rim instead to Hermits Rest and even doing that was exhausting in the heat. I actually only walked a small part of it and got the shuttle bus for the rest of the journey, much more comfortable! We had a nice relaxing afternoon and evening in the camp site in preparation for visiting Zion National Park the next day.
