The Legacy Royal Victoria Hotel
Travel Blogs from Llanberis
An easy 3.5 hour drive from Thirsk with the last hour running along the coast. We are at the base of Snowdon Mountain where you can catch a steam train to the top. Beats walking. Our hotel is a large quirky building with lifts that only go to the second floor and then you walk to the other side of the building to catch a lift to the rest of the …

Historical Traveler Reviews The Legacy Royal Victoria Hotel Llanberis
Worst Hotel ever
Intended to spend 4 days and celebrate my 50th birthday with the wife. Complaints range from sarcastic staff, poor quality of everything, wine arriving half-way through main meal. You can't book a restaurant table until the morning!!!! To cap it all I was refused a table on the second night of our stay, my birthday.......we have stayed in many hotels (8 this year to date) and have never been refused an evening meal. When questioned staff replied, and I quote "is it cause we full". Checked out half-way through stay and went to another hotel with same number of AA stars, Seiont Manor Hotel. The difference between the two hotels is like a dustbin to a place in heaven. Drop the word Quality from its name because this glorified youth hostel is definitely ONE STAR
Didn't like the place we had booked at Betws-y-coed so decided to move. Happened to drive past this hotel. They had a double room vacant for the nights we wanted but said it wasn't one of their best. It was dark and the wallpaper was peeling but only cost £35 per night B&B. Having said that it was clean and staff pleasant. Although the hotel was full there were not a lot of people around in the evenings. Able to walk from the front door to the peak of Snowdon and come back down again, have a hot bath and a lovely 3 course meal in the restaurant with spectacular view from conservatory on 1st floor for £20. Just went for a short break but seems plenty to do in North Wales so if we go again would consider staying here again. Breakfast and dinner served very quickly and professionally - no sign of disarray mentioned in a previous review. Staff told us they had just become a Quality Inn and there were good discounts to be had booking on internet so will bear that in mind
Booked a four night stay but left it after the first night. The room: spacious enough for two bed but nothing else, dark with only a little space to put cloths in. Badly furnished. I have never seen a bathroom like that, really poor, most bed and breakfast houses have better ones. So what are the three star for ?
Bad and unfriendly service ? Torn cloth on the sofas (bar) ? Uncomfortable atmosphere ? Thatīs no value for a 108 pounds room price.
The room was serviceable (with a very good shower) and the view absolutely gorgeous.
I just came back this bank holiday. To be honestly, I and my husband are very disapointed. It was said that the hotel is on the lakeside. I was looking for a quiet and nice view from the hotel. but I couldn't see any lake from the hotel. It takes 15minutes to walk from the hotel. the hotel is on the side of a very busy traffic road which snowdon mountain railway station is on the other side of the road.
About the room, the double bed is very samll and you can hear the sound that people walking and talking outside. If you are expecting a ralaxing and quiet holiday, its will not be your choice. It's truely not worth to spend 110 pounds a night to saty at a hotel like that.
Excellent location, Great service
After spending a couple of hours looking for a hotel in north wales and without wishing to go down the Travelodge route, i went for this hotel. I had read some below average to average reviews on another website so i took the chance taking into account the superb location.
I was pleasantly suprised, check in was superquick, parking not a problem, very quiet area and within a stones throw of one of the routes up snowdon. Rooms probably a touch overpriced but were clean and comfortable. Staff superb and very friendly. Good hearty breakfast (handy for the walk up snowdon) and evening meal was excellent.
I would stay again without hesitation
This hotel is very good. There's plenty of staff who are all very helpful. One thing to avoid though is rooms in the 400's; they're down a long, dingy corrugated iron corridor which is a long walk from the main facilities.
Quiet, Clean & Great Service
We had a horrible experience at a hotel in Caernofen so we frantically tried to find a hotel for our last night in Snowdonia. Thankfully we found the Royal Victoria. The rooms were quiet, spacious, clean, updated and the staff were very pleasant. The breakfast was also very good with an excellent selection.
Of course leaving the Caribbean to come to Snowdonia is quite a dramtic change. But to my surprise it was BEAUTIFULLY BREATHTAKING.
Loved the food
We have just spent two nights at this Hotel and found the food and accommodation excellent value for money, the location is good if you want to walk up and down Snowdon, it is a few hundred yards away from the easy route Llanberis Pass, however may we advise anyone wanting to travel on the Snowdon Mountain Railway that it is very expensive and very uncomfortable, meaning squashed four in a seat, not recommended.
