Last day in Melbourne. We fly to Sydney this early this evening where we will be staying with Mr & Mrs Sheridan for two nights for those of you who know who they are!! For those ex PwC people, the last 2 times I stayed at a Sheridan residential location I threw up in the guest bed and the annex kitchen. Mario, I recall, also suffered a similar fate!! On Wednesday we will be picking up our campervan for our grand trip up the east coast to Cairns!! Lots of caravan sites to stay at - I am su...

... In the jungle I never felt that isolated but on this road you might not see a village or another car for half an hour. With just some extreme roadkill to keep you company, we got used to seeing 'roos killed by the side of the road but when we started seeing horse's and big cows lying by the side of the road it made it a bit interesting. Now I can see why the lorries have not only big metal bull bars on the front but metal grills covering the bottom of the windows, as vast ...
Cairns, Queensland, Australia gaz-lj... literally push me up against the wall before.
So the diving. I'm talking like 30 meter vis, super calm seas with very little current and like NO surge, and lots of coral and sea life. Seriously everything you could want. We dove two reefs, Norman and Saxon. At this one site in Norman called "Troppo" there's a big Maori Wrasse that lives there named Wally. Now Wally is not only really, really stupid, but also extremely friendly and curious. You could pet ...
Cairns, Queensland, Australia stuggin... br>
The bus dropped the non Northern Territory people back at the hotel at noon. The remaining group talked for a while, and then John and I had lunch at the hotel. I had a good, and relatively cheap, sandwich. Then, we played 3 very competitive ping pong matches, of which I won two.

Then I went to check into my new room for the night (no bunks but a roommate). For some reason, Contiki gave me ...

Cairns, Queensland, Australia frechdaxxxEntry Requirements to Australia Another Airport another blog, except this time, a number of Koreans are sporting the latest designs of nose and mouth masks. I have been reliably informed by my doctor brother that the masks that are available to the general public are pretty much ineffectual against airborne virus, like swine flu. But one can never be too careful especially in Australia. How anyone survives this hostile country is beyond me. I ...
Cairns, Queensland, Australia hess... semi-submersible vessel, that was very interesting. I got to know a very nice couple, and sat beside Ann on this trip, she and her husband are from LA. It was such a pity the water was so murky as the colours were brilliant but must be better when the weather is more settled. Now would you believe it ...... I went back to do some more snorkelling and stayed ...
Cairns, Australia mikela... could view the Great Reef up close. Another thing we need to talk about openly is the fact many people are scantily clad here. That's right-- there are people wearing sandals and in some cases , nothing at all on their feet. Feeling a bit self conscious, we went shopping last night for hoisery. I'm trying to find some new argyle socks------ but in tropical colors. From Jacqueline- What a thrill! Who knew that I ...
