... Firstly, we visited the Viking Museum in Bygdoy Island. We were lucky we were the first visitors there so we had some time for watching the ships and other things without being surrounded by crowds of people. But the longer we stayed the more people occurred. So after an hour and a half of observing all those marvellous ships we retreated cowardly.
We decided to walk to the Thor Heyerdahl´s Kon-Tiki Museum. But this emerged as a ...
... Norway’s biggest at 250,000. The old part of town is somewhat separated from a lot of the modern growth sections. The waterfront with its old rows of houses, sailboat moorings, and the big castle overlooking it all is very charming. The people are really friendly and helpful, from the tourist office to the hostel staff. English is spoken by everyone, and well (they make Germans look pretty silly!) The hostel is actually run by a bunch of college ...
Oslo, Oslo, Norway robconrLanded at Torp Airport on time and made the short bus trip to Larvik, a town famous for Thor Heyerdahl - a scientist and explorer who sold across the Pacific and Atlantic Ocean in reed boats, to prove contact could have occured between the major civilisation in man's early history. The first thing to do on any trip is find the tourist information office and find out what part of the lonely planet is out of date. On this ...
Stavern, Norway sd0744On Thursday of the next week my class went on a trip for gym class. We walked up a mountain to a lake. It was really hard to climb up but we made it. Before we went we divided into smaller groups and planned what food we would each bring. I brought corn, brown sugar, and aluminum foil. When we got there my group started to build our fire. We couldn't get to start for a long time, but eventually we got it ...
Tønsberg, Norway lfish2489During summer in Norway there are always music festivals to go to. Last weekend we dragged the boys(James, Jason and Tim) along to Stavernfestivalen, where we worked as bartendes for thirsty music lovers. Jason was extatic over the hoodies we got for free and ...
Stavern, Norway team0506I'm writing this several days after the fact because I've been busy working and having fun doing other things but here it goes... Ivar and I waited until 5 or 5:30pm to set out since he judged that the light would be best after that time. We drove a longer distance than we did to get to the woods, this time taking route 18 southwest-ish. We went past Larvik which seemed like a pretty neat little port town, although I didn't see much of it as we went by. I didn't see any ...
Mølen, Norway mannalie... like it too, residents help with all washing, cooking, shopping, go down to the fjordside every afternoon for a coffee. Staff and residents are very happy This was originaly conceived as one of the new generation of dementia living but the cost of providing individual flats rather than en-suite bedrooms has proved very expensive to build.
Tonsborg, Norway damo100... 10 respite residents in a straight building on three floors Each bedroom is 30sq.m inc en-suite. The lounge and kitchen/dining are seperetae rooms set at an angle to the rest of the building, creating informal seating areas between and breaking up corridor spaces. However these spaces are too large to be comfortable and continious vinyl flooring and suspended ceilings on one level don't ...
