... the strike ending.
Also lots of international IAESTE students (most are European) have started placements now in the first week of August and we all met up for food on monday night. A few were at a republica party last night, which was quite good and very organized; you need to prepurchase tickets, they hire security for the gate and there is a last entry time!
Off to Foz this weekend, flying from Campinas tonight, looking forward to not taking a bus!

Today I had my first haircut in Brasil, it's something you'd never think about but it's kinda hard when the barber speaks no English except from yes, no and hello! Most educational places in Brasil have a July holiday (similar to the 2 week winter break in the northern hemisphere), so my republica has been quiet.
So my work-week has been almost the same every day:

7am Wake up
8am Start Work (Brazilian time, 8:15 European time (only 1 day this week i was not the first of the research group on campus))

The game last night sort of sent all the Brazilians into shock, they can't believe that it happened.
Today however is a holiday in Sao Paulo state (something to do with the overthrow of (one of) the millitary governments), so i had no work! After much need lie-in, me and the five other canil boys went to Bueno, as they wanted to show me the famous Bueno Coxinhas. These are a food which looks a bit like a scotch egg but have chicken and cheese inside ...
