We drove to Alberta on the 2nd, we showed up to the job site on the 3rd to spend 3 hours on site and realise that what we were looking for wasn't there! How lame! So we came back! We had a tourist day on the 4th stopping in Banff and having lunch and walking around. That was a pricey trip for 3 hours on site! -Dan

Up WAY too early - our flight departed around 8:30, and we still had to be at the airport a few hours beforehand, despite everybody having formally checked in yesterday. It was tough sleeping last night, because the room was HOT - it was cold and rainy outside, but the window wouldn't stay open, so air circulation was poor. Plus - the couple nex...

Crossing the Alberta border, the land continued to flatten out and we were surrounded by pleasant farmland scenery. We stopped for the night at Spirit River, a small, tidy town with a municipal campground. There was a slightly warm breeze blowing and we marvelled that it was the first night we had cooked dinner without the mosquitoes dri...

Well, here we go for another round.... This year is my last kick at freedom for awhile it seems, an expensive kick at that...I am off to East Africa, working and bumming around. After spending weeks, getting prescriptions and ridiculous travel medicine advice from every would-be arm chair traveller, I have been stricken with the common flu... on...

I caught a bus to an On-Ramp as far from downtown as I could get. I got a ride a short ways into Abbotsford where I was stuck for a few hours until a fella gave me another lift another 20 minutes down the road. As he pulled over and I got out a trucker pulled up straight away. He asked if I needed a lift, and of course I did. I happily threw my ...
Calgary, Alberta, Canada jojojinks12Greetings from Calgary! We'll start by wishing everybody a Happy Canada Day (and a Happy Independence Day if you're American...see how worldly we are becoming already). We ended our last entry with a promise of a groundbreaking exposé on whether the prairies where indeed "flat", as has been rumoured for years. And the answer is.....no. Well, yes...
Kora ...
Calgary, Alberta, Canada kjozsaI am doing a bachelor's degree at Mount Royal College in Calgary in Ecotourism and Outdoor Leadership. My program requires that I complete two practicums (work terms). I really wanted to find an international placement somewhere in South or Central America because it is somewhere I have wanted to travel to and it is a relatively inexpensive des...
