We woke up early and went out 6 mies west of Amarillo to see Cadillac ranch, a man stuck 10 Cadillacs in ground in a farm field. People spray paint them every color of the rainbow wth spray paint. One car had Susan painted on so Susie the graffiti artist wrote our names and our anv date on the car.

Leaving Tulsa behind at 8 am, we found ourselves weaving down that old familiar byway--Route 66. This stretch of driving was not as consistently knock-out beautiful as the Missouri section, but it had its own bevvy of landscapes, landmarks, and oddities to keep things interesting. ... but no hail or 70 hour mile winds. I think the canyon protected us and especially the trees around us. The young couple next to us left to stay in a motel in Canyon and returned the next morning to head home. Raccoons had been in their campsite and their tents held up but they were wet. Another family closed down their pop up and headed to Canyon but returned after the storm went through about 2 in the morning and put the pop up back up and then ...

Interstate 40 west out of Flagstaff is a beautiful, fun drive. The wind still blew, but at least we were going downhill for a change.
