Why this journey?

... one semester. Our kids requested the change and we all agreed that 5-6 months would be plenty. We leave on January 25th from San Diego to Australia, then plan to travel from Australia to Dubai, then off to Greece, Turkey and then to Italy, all by plane. Once in Italy we plan to travel around Europe for a bit more than 2 months by car, ferry, train and whatever other means of transportation is necessary.

Wednesday November 5th.

Another day at sea because of the hurricane. The captain has done a great job to keep us away from the storm which is 300kms west of us. It sounds like a long way from us but the effects are being felt by the ship as we travel, there is a real rock and roll.

We spent all day checking out the San Diego Zoo. Thankfully we listened to other folks and went a little later in the afternoon, and stayed until close at 9. The temperature hit 95 today, which is the hottest we have seen and felt since coming to California.
