Earlier in the morning, after returning to cell service away from badlands, while Sraddha is driving I look in the Atlas to find the nights camp. I spot a state park, one of our favorite venues, a few miles north of Sioux Falls. I get on the internet to check availability.

... the Great Lakes to the Rockies. The stone could be worked by stone-age tools, and a pipe needs to be drilled as well as shaped and decorated. The exhibition, film and talks presented the history and current use, and information about what the pipe was used for -- its central religious purpose. 'Peace pipe' doesn't do it justice.

... highway towards De Smet, the site of the Little Town on the Prairie. There are a lot more trees than I imagined but I expect that is because the first settlers planted them just like Pa did in the books. Gas is getting cheaper. We just say it for 3.39 a gallon. Actually all the gas has been cheaper than it is in Grand Rapids. ...

From the Spam museum we traveled westward. The farm land is really pretty. We got off the highway at Sioux Falls to find some supper. It was the strangest exit. There were semi-truck dealers all along the road. We saw Volvos, Peterbuilts, and a few others. So exit 399 in Sioux Falls is the place to buy a big rig. After driving for a bit we finally found a mini-mall that had two restuarants in it, one pizza and the other Chinese. The kid ...
