We woke around 8am and had breakfast at the hotel before renting bikes and venturing around the island. We spent a lot of time exploring the old Fort Mackinac with a lot of historic sites and demonstrations from the colonial era Then we ventured further up the hill to the Grand Hotel to explore ...
We arrived at the ferry dock around 2pm. There was a little hesitation dropping off Simon and Lucy at the kennel in St Ignace - Mike was concerned about how safe they would be there and the fact the owner had their tiny dogs running around the driveway when we arrived didn't help. Another 6 hour drive and we had to just call it a day to recharge.
Days Inn was all that was "pet friendly" but actually a nice place, right on the lake.
Tomorrow, we plan to head south for a place to spend a couple of days and then toward Columbus, Ohio.
Goal is to be home by Saturday to re-charge before next Monday....
