On Wednesday, May 7, Don and Loretta stopped in Sandpoint, Idaho to have dinner with Ken and Christy Dart, parents of Miranda Bodus, one of our members. Ken and Christy are a very congenial couple and generous, too! They paid for the Stevensons' dinner and breakfast, and put them up in the Quality Inn as well! I've attached some photos that Christy emailed after their meeting. See Entry 34 for information about the Darts' employer, Dr. Forrest Bird. Both Ken and Christy have joined the Pacin'...

Well ... it was looking like it might be overcast when we left the house on Tuesday morning ... obviously we underestimated just how overcast it was going to be.
We left Calgary around 9 am (which was a little later than we were planning) and stopped at the Cochrane Truck stop (Humpty's) to put on the rain gear. It rained from there to Fairmont Hot Springs. At on point the rain and fog was so bad we thought we missed a turn off and ended up on "Da Rock".

... new challenge for me - wish me more than luck - PRAY! We will head for Oregon first to visit our sisters. My sister Myrna is in Salem and Dix's sister Jean is in Grants Pass. Then we will head south on I 5. You are all invited to travel with us and share our joys and probably some trials as we make our way to Arizona and Texas. We hope to see a lot of great country and will share our pics with you.

Hmm, sounds more like a charity event... I stopped for the night in Sandpoint, Idaho - a resort town on a lake here in the Rockies. I'm staying in a severely overpriced Best Western but the bed is comfy and the view is spectacular. Today's mileage: 808km

Saw an idea for our garden - amazing what you find in gift shops overhere! After the falls we started making our way over to Spokane - we traveled on the interstate and the facilities at the rest stops along the way were simply amazing. Chated to some very nice fellows on Harleys - couldn't get ...
Sandpoint, Idaho, United States judencharlie... asking brad if he had seen it when suddenly we saw a live turtle on the shoulder of the road jump in surprise as our bikes zoomed past. there were a number of marshy spots along the river, and with them came a lot of turtles. we didn't see too many more dead ones, but quite a few living ones. i was hoping to come up with a "why did the turtle cross the road?" joke... julie stopped to save one of them, and we named him skookum after a nearby RV park (and ...
Newport, Washington, United States stevevlsTotal miles to date: 10,150 On Tuesday, May 6, Don and Loretta made it into Idaho and stopped just east of Priest River. Priest River, Idaho, United States donstevenson... I joked should rightfully contain raw potato. All very delicious, with a splash of apathetic waitresses. Today, my mom had to drive into the sleepy town of Newport, WA so I went along for the ride. Having 2 hours to myself there, I checked out the museum, and what a treasure chest of memorabilia! I had a moment with the newspaper machinery; letterpresses, paper-folders, type ...

A track disappeared invitingly into the woods beneath the bulbous domes of three-headed Snowshoe Peak and I wondered, briefly, what fate might hold in store were I to follow it. Good sense prevailed and I continued south across gold-hued water meadows with my old friend, Highway 56. Together we followed the course of the nascent Bull River as it wound its way around a series of evergreen ridges, accompanied by the chirp of birdsong from and a flood of ...
