... going on while we were there!
As we were spending the night inland, we then broke away from the coast on a winding canyon road. The sun was slowly setting while we finished this drive, which made it even more awesome. JT and I originally assumed that the road was merely a remote winding cut-through between 1 and 101, but we actually saw a decent number of residences around the ridge (the views from those houses must ...
... taking Italian and hopefully one history class and two art history classes. The two art classes have field trips to many of the museums in Florence and also to other cities in Italy. One of them includes a trip to Venice and the other a trip to Rome. I'll be very happy if I get these two classes! I will be staying with an Italian family starting the night of the 15th. I ...

santa monica, California, United States jacksonjm... in California so we thought we might just test this theory! Sunday 20th April Sherry, Ed, Bonnie and us all headed out to a champagne brunch in Calabasas, about an hours drive from their house. With LA being so huge this sort of drive is a completely normal thing to do for a bite to eat! So a champagne brunch was the perfect excuse for us to get all dolled up...a pleasant experience and relatively easy job to do considering we now ...
Los Angeles, California, United States flojoy... I think I'll stay in and get to bed early so my brain is functional tomorrow. That would be nice! So far, I think that my only gripe about my situation is that I have yet to receive a microwave and therefor pretty much have to buy dinner each night. Ugh. $$$. But my packed lunch was surprisingly good --- hooray for the super dollar store!! I miss everyone already - keep in touch! Much love, Lindsey
Pasadena, California, United States lindseydawn... the original flight we booked on got cancelled so we were put on another flight but with a different airline. If that makes sense. But eventually we were allowed on the plane just minutes before it took off. So we were so incredibly relieved to get on that flight!!!!! We're now hangin out in the big city - New York, New York. Absolutely love it here, will write blog about it some time. Hope everyone is well and enjoying that sunshine =)
Los Angeles, California, United States jenni_poortman... we'd rather crash at a motel. The hostels we found were either in seriously dodgy neighbourhoods or full up or had 30 bed dorms. That night the plan was to watch the sunset and check out the Hollywood sign from the Griffith Park Observatory but traffic was awful. We ended up missing the sunset but seeing a bit of Beverly Hills and seeing LA lit up at night whilst munching on a drive thru BK. Living the American dream!!
Los Angeles, California, United States tom.steibeltOne of the benefits of volunteering with the Tournament of Roses is getting tickets to the Rose Bowl Game! This year we watched the two "Should Have's" of Michigan and USC play on a perfect football day in the beautiful Rose Bowl. Of course my USC Trojans dominated the game and luckily broke the Rose Bowl cruse of losing to Texas (one of the most amazing games ever) in the National Championship last year and a sad lose to cross town UCLA to knock them out of the Championship game this year!
Pasadena, California, United States scott_and_amy... New Jersey (Surf City, we think). I never figure out how these arrangements are made and don't ask. The Natural History Museum had many interesting stuffed birds, fish, and other animals. Plus dioramas of Indian life. The most interesting display was a replica of a local cave with prehistoric paintings of hands, llamas, birds, and men shapes. It was named Cave of the Hands. Back to the ship and time for a nap. The combination of waking ...
