Very windy and sand
blowing all over the road. We stopped at sunset crater, massive volcano
and lots of solidified lava, was absolutey freezing in the wind though
so we passed on the trail! Flagstaff, Arizona, United States rich_charlotte... everything we saw was in the distance which made it a lot cooler.

We stopped in Flagstaff to stretch our legs and grab a brewski at their brewery and to get our glass for Arizona. We got in pretty early and thought we would try our luck at campground up at the Grand Canyon. Luckily I called before we drove all the way up there, because they didn't have anything available. That would have sucked driving the 70 miles up to the Grand Canyon and then have ...
Flagstaff, Arizona, United States nicandjessica... 353;těstí hlavně cestou do Kalifornie. Občas nás míjí motorkáři a jinak projíždímě poměrně fádní krajinou.

We were unsure whether this story says more about the rattlesnake or about the woman concerned. Oh yes, and apparently 5 people a year manage to "fall off" the Canyon, or rather, to fall into it, presumably to a rather horrible death. Apparently most are men between the ages of 25 and 34, acting like idiots ...
Williams, Arizona, United States lauravanwaasThe Grand Canyon is so large that it is difficult to get your head round it in a quick visit such as we had. However, the train ride from Williams is quite a bit of light hearted fun and Williams itself is faomous for it's location on the route 66.
Williams, Arizona, United States paulrobinson... not the same as in Australia where you line up to get bread and pastries, here they act more like Cafe's that sell you bread related products. Williams is about 7000 ft above sea level and after experiencing temperatures in the mid 20s everywhere else we've been it was a big change when the mercury plummetted down to 0 degress celcius and less. Not only this but the coolest thing happened to us when we were here - It snowed. Now I don't mean wussy ...
Williams, Arizona, United States pod501... on the left and moutains to the right and the distance. The sun was setting and set the whole scene on fire, it literally looked like the world was being born. The photo doesn't really do it justice because the brightness of the sun overloaded the camera.
Flagstaff, Arizona, United States filthysock... priority it seems. But the kids had fun and it made for some great photo ops. Then we had a late lunch in Winslow, AZ. This is such a charming town. We stopped at a 50's type diner. The food and service were both great. The town is quaint and I wouldn't mind spending a few days there. You must go to the Gran Canyon and surrounding areas. Visually stunning.
