... everybody travels to Denver on Saturday. With accidents and construction, it took us almost 7 hours in what should have taken about 4 hours. We ended up in Kearney, Nebraska at about 10:00pm. There we spent the night boondocking at a rest area on I-80. Tomorrow, we will make better time.

When we got to Kearney we settled into a beautiful campground about a half mile from the river. The park ranger told us that, as we feared, the cranes were pretty much gone but she thought that there were a few whooping cranes still around. We stumbled upon this attraction in the farmlands if Nebraska... It's a giant archway over the freeway with a historic western museum. We didn't go up into the museum (a little behind on time) but they had other cool things to explore outside including a human maze, a earth lodge and a giant statue of a bison.
