The lack of water is why Scott & I couldn't bear to live in Tucson. I smelled water as soon as I opened the door to my truck here, as sure as I could locate Lake Erie even when I couldn't see it as a toddler.

Nebraska is a veritable snooze of a state, but it has water, and I like it! ...

... bounding across the road...they were not afraid and stared at us as we took pictures of them. Next we saw what was possible a badger or wolverine...not sure, only saw it from behind. Next I cry out...moose!!! Jeff backs up and we see a mama and baby close to the roadside having some breakfast...so cute. Btw, that makes 5 moose sightings on this trip, they may be my spirit animal. ... everybody travels to Denver on Saturday. With accidents and construction, it took us almost 7 hours in what should have taken about 4 hours. We ended up in Kearney, Nebraska at about 10:00pm. There we spent the night boondocking at a rest area on I-80. Tomorrow, we will make better time.

As one travels East in this part of the country the landscape gradually changes from mainly grazing to grazing mixed with agriculture, predominantly corn but some soybeans and wheat. Since the corn had not yet been planted we soon left the grazing cattle (and those absolutely adorable baby cattle) behind and began passing almost unending bare brown earth with patches of green winter wheat here and there. So desolate.

542 miles closer to home, woo hoo!  Was a nice day today hot with some clouds but no rain.  It had stormed overnight so the bike and roads were wet when we left but we will gladly take that over riding in the rain.  Shane said we are over 6,200 miles. The hotel has a restaurant attached to it and the hostess asked if we wanted a booth or table.  I said all I want is a cushioned seat...  Really your butt does go ...
