Too Much is How Much?

... for gifts and souvenirs on the return trip...

There's a old travel rule of thumb..."Never travel with more than you can run with for a quarter mile."

Gotta' work on that.

Thanks to 'Beca, Mark and Layla for their marvelous hospitality! It won't be three years again before we visit. Save the milkweed! Save the Monarchs!

Tubas, baby! Lots and lots of TUBAS!!

If you are EVER in the south central Michigan area, definitely, DEFINITELY, visit the Travelers Club and Tuba Museum in Okemos! This great restuarant serves a different ethnic/national food theme each month, in addition to a full line of 'regular' food and beers. HOW'S THIS for a delicious Swedish dinner? We had split pea soup, smoked white fish, pickled herring, rye bread with herb butter, haroset (applesauce, cinnamin and ...

We're on the road again! In Michigan for 4 days!

After saying our goodbyes to everyone at Cedarlane RV Park this morning, we're on the road to Michigan, in the home! Gray skies and cool winds can't dampen our spirits - we are SO looking forward to this next week's travels - when we leave Michigan, we'll head south on I-75 towards Florida, with a two ...

in the saddle again and loving it

We're heading west to go home after a fantastic summer.

It feels so right to be back on my bike again, it's like we never parted.

Was on the road by noon. A good, albeit wet, ride today. A bit of delay at the Sarnia/Port Huron border for Matt to renew his visa waiver form but no complaints ...

Probably the last blog entry for a while

... things happened on your trip.

Me: Of course, you remember the homesick entries from Asia, so that is not true.  It is funny how I tend to only remember the good parts of the trip and forget that I was lonely a lot and did have a few scary experiences, more than a few very awkward experiences, and one particular experience I regret.  But the good parts and overall benefits far, far outweigh the bad.

Fan: Do you still keep in touch with people you met along the way?

West Coast for a Week

... 10 calls, I even figured that out too.

I always manage to make myself look like a complete dummy during the whole security check in part. This was no exception. I brought my laptop and a menagerie of electronic devices and cords. I took the laptop out and left the rest. Those devices and cords were apparently enough to warrant a search of my bags. I tried helping find whatever they were ...

Headed West

... babies to jump and just happened to look out her window to watch the fluffy yellow paratroopers leaping into the lake and then reappearing like tiny bobbers as they popped back onto the water's surface. My box unfortunately lost their mother half way through incubation and ended their lives as leathery shelled eggs. Like so many things in life - after a fantastic start a rather sad ending.

The weather has covered every ...

Here I Go Again!

And I was worried about not having enough work. What can I say? The past few days have been so great catching up with my buddies, however, in between I have been on the phone and e-mailing the dispatchers trying to set up my work schedule. That is when I wasn't trying to hook up this DSL and swearing up a blue streak - thank heavens for good ole dial up! After several edits, it looks like I have things nailed down through April. I ...

The tip of the Iceburg..or mountain....

... people because they are telling her that she has to surrender the fish..."No Way!" they were telling her that she had to check it or leave it...then after a long look of death...5 seconds...they said she could remove the ice and that would be OK. We figure since the flight is like 4 hours and one of my purchases was frozen, it will be OK...so we make it through and the next thing I know the announcer calls out "last call for Flight 250 to Detroit ...

... The publication of my little book coincides with the 35th anniversary of Stampa Alternativa, founded in 1971 by Marcello Baraghini and based in the little Tuscany yown of Viterbo. Stampa has a bookstore in the village of Pitigliano where their 4th annual literary festival will be held on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, with nighttime events to take place in a former schoolyard a few kilometers down the road at the hamlet of Elmo ...
