Thirteen hours, three states, and 730 miles. We also lost two hours due to time changes. As dusk was falling and we crossed over the Texas border, it reminded me of watching the Amazing Race and knowing that the lagging competitors usually came in late in the day. Luckily, no eliminations today and we hopped on the proverbial welcome mat at the roadside RV park to end our day at 9:30. Sleep was the only thing on the agenda though there was a ...

... end. We passed several ghost towns, like Cuervo and Montoya, before taking the turnoff to Tucumcari. This was a real eye opener. About 5 kms of the old Route 66 was lined with buildings or ruins. The road Route 66 has been realigned twice and for 18 miles the new road had been built on top of Route 66, so every now and again Route 66 disappeared. a lot of the time the road runs parallel to Highway 40 the new ...

We left Paris after 9 am, stopped one time at a rest stop on 287 to let Zoey out. The wind was blowing , and the temp was 100 making for a ' dry heat' . I didn't take my camera out of the coach but I wish I'd taken pictures of the sign there. WATCH FOR RATTLESNAKES. As we stopped we noticed water in the floor between our seat, then discovers it coming from under the cabinet. I felt the plumbing around the sink and it was dry. So DH decided it was the ...
