After a spot of lunch it was back in the van and off to the Cadillac ranch. 10 vintage Cadillac cars half buried in the Texan ground in 1974 as a temporary art installation but have remained since and thousands of tourists visit every year and spray paint the cars. ... nothing I would make a big effort to go back to; even Albuquerque didn't impress me much. Of course, I'm only traveling along the Interstate for the most part so I didn't see much, and I skipped Santa Fe even though it would probably have been cool, but every time I would get out of a town or city and back onto the road I noticed how much happier I was.

This is a beautiful country. I'm glad I'm taking this route. Tomorrow, Oklahoma!!!

... then took us through a couple of small towns, some populated and some not. One town had a scrap yard with a green martian out the front which Joe thought was cute. Maybe an escapee from Roswell. It was around here that we passed a guy riding a pedal bike along the route - packs and all. ... the challenge. When we eventually drove back to our hotel, four men were sitting in the parking lot, with their cooler box and beers. Spanish music was blaring from their car and they were just having a good old time. Suffice to say, we didn't get much sleep. We drove to Albuquerque. Unfortunately we drove most of the interstate to get here as the old 66 route was paved to make way for the I40. We will try to upload pics today ...
