... thinks of Texas? Some hills appeared in the distance, and we were most surprised to see wind turbines, hundreds of them.
The campsite at Big Spring wasn't great, barely enough room between vehicles to be able to get in and out of the trailer; still we were only staying overnight, and we didn't even bother to unhitch.
... off to work. Barbara and I packed up and hit the road west.
A little before noon, we stopped at a rest area on I-20 for lunch. After eating, I lay down on the couch and fell asleep for an hour. I didn’t feel too bad, though, because I found Barbara asleep in the bedroom.

Well, today's travel was quite a bit more interesting than I had anticipated. For the first hundred miles the wind was hellacious; 30-40 MPH side winds with higher gusts. That went on for almost two hours, the longest two hours of the trip so far. I was so tense that I took an hour and a half lunch break while the wind died down.
I thought about calling it a day and getting a hotel room right after lunch, but ...
... next. For instance, shortly after getting on the road yesterday morning I passed through the town of Kyle. Very quaint with lots of trees and hills on the horizon. The winds were bad today and we decided to just stop in Big Spring TX at a Wal-Mart for the evening. We were the only rig in the lot. They did have an area out of the way which was just fine for the evening.
The following photo was taken in Fredericksburg. If you come to Texas be very careful what you say about politics. These folks have strong opinions and loaded guns!
