I was packed and on the road by 6:00am, heading out Rt-70 towards Harper's Ferry then out to Winchester, WV. I decided to craft a country-roads route on the computer, from my home to the hotel in Beckley, WV, then upload it to the GPS.

After a brief time on I-81 I took Rt-48 west then Rt-28 south through the mountains and Seneca Rocks (no …

The guide, who himself worked in the coal mines in West Virginia for 26 1/2 years, told us th.at today, mining is made much more attractive by much larger salaries--$75,000 - $100,000 a year--but that it isn't worth it. You don't have to ...

We intended to go to the ballgame tonight--the Bluefield (West Virginia) Blue Jays vs. the Princeton Rays, but it started raining about 3:00 and never let up. The game was postponed by the time we got to the hotel around 5:00, so at least we didn't have to go to the park and stand around through a lengthy rain delay. The game has been rescheduled to a double-header tomorrow (two seven-inning games), so if the ...

... and then we moved down the wall doing some more challenging lines. Later we found a sick cave and Lee onsighted a 12a! Lee is a beast climber! One of the strongest I know and has taught me everything I know, but he also cleared the 30 foot wide cave after letting one rip! Damn Lee!

It was a successful day and after climbing we went to The Secret Sandwich Society for another "unique" meal. I had a turkey sandwich with apples on it, fantastic! and everyone ...

... super strong boulderers. And there I was the noob flailing around on 9s and 10s...

It was a good learning experience though and it was super fun to watch Fox attempt one of the hardest routes I had ever seen. He's a beast.

Once we got back I could only hang around the fire for a bit because I had to Drive another 4.5 hours to work... 9 Hours drive for a less then 24 hour trip... yeah never again.
