Day 10 of 49 (Sep 17). Know how you can tell you're not in Texas? Cross 3 states in 4 hours! Yes, we left Montgomery, AL, crossed Georgia, and entered South Carolina. The worst part of the trip was there were NO rest areas in Georgia, so it was non-stop. Well, they did have rest areas; two of them, one as you entered and one as you left and BOTH had barricades across the entrances. What’s up with that?

... We parked here and took the short connector trail to the Foothills Trail then started hiking towards Chattooga River. In about a half-mile or so, we came to another parking area at the end of FSR-775 – apparently we should have driven a little further and parked here. The water level was low, so I was able to climb up the rocks near the base of the waterfall. As we were getting ready to head back, I saw a beautiful tiger swallowtail butterfly on some of the ...

... Again, we luckily found a good deal on a Subaru crossover that had fewer miles and was in better condition then his VW. Aaron really likes this vehicle, which will also be able to tow the small fishing boat he hopes to buy. Aaron is looking for a job in the area.

We connected with our good friends, Jim and Nancy Hackett, who have been superb in helping us blend into the Lake Keowee scene. We have gone to a ...

After months of researching, planning, making reservations and in the past week, packing and weighing, we're finally beginning our Europe 2015 adventure. Our first flight today originated in Greenville at 12:50 (on time) and will take us to Charlotte. Its 2:00 p.m. and we're in Charlotte, waiting for our flight to, of all places, Philadelphia. When we made our flight reservations late last year, ...
