... pay which was nice. What they don’t have – which is ironic for a state that gets so cold in Winter is any anti-freeze for the window washers – the people in LA, understandably, had not added any and I made the schoolboy error of washing the windows when the temp was -1c. Aaaagggghhhh watch out everyone on I15 – I can’t seeeeeeeee!
I got to Zion in once piece and after a quick recky at the visitor centre ...
... edge to have a look. Makes me a little too nervous sometimes. I went for a beer and some pasta at the "beer palace"...a great little place Mark introduced me to. They are totally dog friendly in Springdale, and Roxi was allowed to lie on the patio with me while I ate and surfed. I was feeling guilty for leaving her in the van for 3.5 hours...so I fed her pasta leftovers ... she seemed just fine with that.

Now that I don’t work, that I am not in a rush to juggle with the priorities of an "organized society" (this concept seems to replace more and more the one of civilization…makes sense to me), why in the world do I wake up at 5 am? Here I am watching the stars with a big smile on my face ! This morning the full moon is still there (on the other side of the valley though), finally showing Orion "ma bonne etoile", and many ...
Leaving before sunrise. Great Basin is what America is about. Huge plains with small mountains range on each side. When the dark goes away, the snow shows orange pinkish reflections, the rocks turn red and the fields of yellow grass just add to the picture of the morning waking up. Even with a good camera I cannot offer the view that only your eyes can see…or maybe a good photographer could. Respek !
Thru the mirror rear view I can see the Utah white ...
... The tunnel was built in 1930 to make a direct road link between Bryce, Zion and Grand Canyon so it wasn't designed for two 30 feet (or bigger) RV's passing at the one time. The tunnel escort is a safer way of using the tunnel.
After the tunnel it is a steep drive down the the bottom of the canyon. We arrived in Springdale before lunch and after leaving the RV at the campground we hopped onto the free shuttle ...
... Grand Canyon's top layer.- known as the Grand Staircase. . Las Vegas (again) Arrived at Bill's Gamblin Hall for our second night in the early afternoon - thought there had been a mistake with the room - it was a suite (turns out we got upgraded - sweet!). Fully equipped with a bar, loungeroom and couches and 2 bathrooms (assumed this was for all our 'party friends' to use a bathroom without going to the bedroom). Anyway......went for a walk in the ...
Zion National Park, Utah, United States laura-and-craig... Before the trip I had rented rubber boots, a wetsuit, a hiking stick, and a dry bag for the camera - essential investments if one wanted to get the real experience without putting oneself in unnecessary risk. All this was back in October of 2006, and I recall very vividly having to wake a very grouchy friend out of bed before the sun was out, and taking the very first bus to the start of the Narrows, fingers numb and hands still shivering from ...

Zion National Park, Utah, United States missjane75... mountains on the East coast of America millions of years ago, when the world was just one continent. He also showed us Bright Angel which is a trail I could never ever ever ever contemplate doing. It's a trail that heads up a "mountain", up a load of switchbacks, to the top of the plateau. You then have to walk along a 3 foot walk way, along a ledge, holding onto a chain, with a sheer 1500 foot drop either side. No way! Ever! We could see the people up there walking this ...
