... sounds - have I been in America too long??) He also chatted to us about the mormons in the area, where polygamy is still practised - not surprisingly they have massive houses to cope with all the offspring. Calvin and I agreed one woman was plenty. Water in the canyon was partly coming out of the rock which takes 800 years to go from being snow on top of the cliff to becoming water down the bottom of the canyon - tasted pretty clean, and rather ...
Zion National Park, Utah, United States laura-and-craig... trail is level.

The trail you are walking on is ontop of the Great Arch. You will see this from the pull off as you get closer to the bottom of Zion. There is also a good photo shot of one ot the Zion-Mount Carmel Tunnel windows from this area.

The purpose in the trail, other than getting out of your car and hiking is the reaching the end of the trail. The vista opens to a box canyon, and if you don't drop your jaw, you are too ...
Zion National Park, Utah, United States kupdegra... to ferry people around, a really efficient system.! We hopped off at The Grotto and started the difficult hike up Angels Landing. This hike is not for the faint hearted! Its a tough walk. A series of switchbacks lead up into a canyon where another set of 22 switchbacks called Walters Wiggles awaits you. At the top of these is Scouts Landing where a lot of people are happy to stop, take in the views and continue ...
We komen pas tegen ...
Springdale, Utah, United States niki72... two feet wide in places and those are not a flat two feet. There may be chains to help you to pull yourself up along a narrow out crop of rock with shear cliffs on both sides. Let me repeat BOTH sides. It was 1/2 mile up and then you had to crawl your way down the same way. It was the scariest thing we have done so far. What is somewhat amazing is that there were lots of fellow crazy people up there wanting to do ...
Zion National Park, Utah, United States margomaxAntelope Canyon in Page, Arizona clogged my camera with powder fine, red sand dust and alas it took no more pictures. Zion was a lovely park and we had a sweet campsite just next to the Virgin River and within view of magnificently high peaks. My travel buddy, Ryan also lost his "artsy" camera to ...
Zion National Park, Utah, United States missjane75... to do an emergency rescue on Tegs' stick as it floated past me! Tegs and I were glad to find some deep pools so we could have a wee! There was absolutely nowhere we could go, other than wee through our knickers and shorts in the water! Nice!! It warmed the water up a bit though! We were in and out of sunlight as we hiked, as when the canyon walls got really high it blocked out the sun completely. Eventually we made it to the Orderville Canyon. We all felt a huge sense of ...
Springdale, Utah, United States cusanUtah's First National Park! Okay, I've cooled down from my "I am woman, hear me roar" rant. I'm much better now. We're gonna' go check out Zion...they have a cool visitor center and a real cool propane shuttle bus. Cool....but it's not cool here, it's actually really, really hot.
