          Omaha zoo

A travel blog entry by jason934 on Sep 30, 2015

The goal of visiting Omaha was going to the supposed best zoo in the world. We arrived there at 10:30am and left at 4:15pm, shortly before they closed at 5pm. It's great having the GPS to navigate us around, and we had no issues getting there or back to the hotel. Firstly I think the zoo could be in the running for the best in the world, once their extensive construction is complete. There was a lot of construction, which really distracted from the experience. Also the zoo ...

... on the flight to Omaha due to supposedly bumpy flight (it wasn't that bad). It's definitely cooler in Omaha, with the temp in the high teens rather than the mid to late 20s we have had to date. We got a pretty good car, a Sonata, from National car rental, and I felt really comfortable straight away driving on right side of road and left side of the car. Gotta say a big THANK YOU to Cameron for lending me his 2 walkie talkies. They've been an easy way to communicate while we're driving. Can't imagine not having them along for the ride.

... were a flock of about 15 wild turkeys; the first we have seen so far.

I forgot to mention in our last entry an interesting encounter we had with the campers in the site next to us. We were talking about where we were going and they were on their way home to Oregon from being in as far east as Schenectady. We mentioned we were from upstate NY near Binghamton. It turned out that they had camped a couple of nights before in Harpursville. We all got a chuckle from that ...

... 8211; all a little put out that they were no longer the centre of attention!! Plenty of cuddles for London in the evening from Tammy (desperate to be a grandma again SHELBY!!) and a trip to Omaha Zoo planned for the next day we settled into Mac for the night outside Tammy’s house. Now, Tammy lives on quite the slope and Mac’s levelling system was showing it was a 7% gradient we were parked on. Sewing Velcro onto our ...
