The next stop on our tour was Fort Coulogne, only about 2 hours west from Ottawa. We arrived there in the early afternoon and since the heat was with us again, we jumped straight in the river by our hostel. The hostel consisted of a few bungalow houses and a main house with a huge patio. Down from the patio there was a small beach and the river. We had an amazing view all the time, saw the most beautiful sunsets with red, pink, purple and orange shades and a stunning night ...

... and muscular, almost looked dark blue. Yes I love them all..

Ontario has the most incredible rock or granite walls along the road. I kept trying to take photos, but they just don't do it justice. Absolutely beautiful! And it is everywhere. As well, amongst all this granite, people have erected inukshooks all along the way for our viewing pleasure! Not sure who takes the time.. Couldn't really stop a vehicle along the highway to ...

Not a good morning to be departing this magical place as there are clear blue skies and the sea is glassy flat. We saw the first whale of the season (for the local area) as we head the 9 miles back to Mary's Harbour. The place is simply stunning there are no other words. I have always wanted to visit tundra country and we have done that here. We would love to come back and go further North! Like all paradises there are bugs that ...

... were cooled down by a sudden 10 minute down pour. Pretty skies afterwards. At 5:30 in the morning we woke up to some people pulling into the area to go fishing, and they just kept coming, it was Canada Day and we were parked at a popular fishing spot so had to hightail it outta there before we got blocked in. The price you pay for free camping. ...

Monday and Tuesday were good days to try and recover from Jet Lag, with some shopping and sight-seeing strolls around Pembroke and along the Pembroke bank of the Ottawa River. Pembroke is one of the many small towns that make up Renfew County in Ontario. A former timber town that is now in transition. Many of the buildings and homes in Pembroke are quite old and many of them obviously suffer from ...
