In the "you have got to be kidding me" department: it was opening weekend at Arapahoe Ski Resort this weekend. What? I'm craving an Apple Festival when I get home in PA next weekend, and they are already skiing here? Oi! I did not doing any skiing this weekend.

My morning started with an early Mass in Louisville (at St. Louis Catholic Church – appropriate, right?) then breakfast with good friends Greg ...

... best on the jagged cliffs. On arriving in Boulder we parked and walked the Pearl St Mall looking at the shops and listening to the buskers. The first 2 days included Little League baseball play off games and time to enjoy Jake and Leah at our son Gregg and his wife Debbie's home at Stapleton. The next 2 days we stayed with our son Barry's in laws Don ...

... At the second stop as I pulled up I was passed by a young woman wearing a bikini – which I thought was curious attire for a freeway in the middle of the high plains!

The only other adventure I had on the way to the Denver was a lorry jack-knifing and nearly losing its trailer barely 20 yards in front of me. Fortunately the brakes on the ****** rental car are pretty solid and I stopped ...

      Trip to the Zoo

After learning about how great of a deal the Denver Zoo is, we decided to check it out. In particular, Karyn was excited to see the new elephant area whereas Brendan is a 'big cat' fan. The day started out by scoping out a big porcupine and quickly evolved up to a herd of giraffe! The giraffe were particularly good for picture taking since it's awfully difficult for them to hide.

      From the giraffe pen ...
