Leaving the KOA , we traveled to the tip of SC , Lake Hartwell , to visit Peggy and Chuck Herda. Had a nice lunch with them, and lots of laughs- they are doing great in their beautiful home on the lake. Once we left there, we drove to Chattanooga, Tennessee, where we'll explore for two ...

I love my down quilt, but I just wanted something a little more substantial with us heading into the Smokies soon. I'll probably send the bag home and get the quilt back after it warms up a bit. ... my own thing when I hike, so I was given the name Cruise Control (Cruise for short). Georgia was fun, but challenging. There were a lot of climbs where you think you would be at the top only to turn the corner and see that you still have a quarter mile of uphill to go. Needless to say I was thrilled when we crossed the border into North Carolina 2 days ago. It was ...

... and headed to Lower Whitewater Falls. The trail went through the woods, then followed a gravel road, before skirting around Whitewater Mountain. It then descended steeply to a nice wooden overlook for the waterfall. The falls were a good distance away, but the overlook was positioned well for views of the 400-foot waterfall surrounded by ice. After a few photos, we headed back and soon were back at the car. Our hike ...
