    ... seeing some pretty coral fungi growing near a footbridge. In about a half-mile, we reached the spur trail to Station Cove Falls. Some brilliantly orange Jack-o-Lantern mushrooms were growing around a tree near the turn. It was a short way on the spur trail to the waterfall.     ... bear. He quickly made his way into some dense rhododendron, so no way to take a picture. We decided it would be best to talk loudly as we hiked to ensure we didn’t startle another bear.     ... down the path another 2.5 miles to the turn for Big Falls. It’s not terribly obvious, but I spotted the flagging tape and cairn at the turn. From here, it’s a steep climb down to river level.     ... out with appetizers on the deck of their tug boat down at the community dock (Aaron swam in the warm clear lake) then went back up to the huge back deck of their home to grill and eat.

    ... amazing pizzeria was followed by alpine mini-golf (yours truly emerging victorious. Of course.) before a chilled night in the cabin. Which led us to Sunday 28th, and check out ahead of the 6 and a half hour drive to the Florida panhandle.
