Pretty good huh - I'm usually still in bed at that time! 9:45 - raining but not the freezing rain they warned us about - fingers crossed that it stays this way. 11:00. - rest stop. Bit of freezing rain but highway is fine. Have passed a lot of salt trucks... boy do they lace that stuff out. Had to watch our step - icy spots on the walkways and the curbs. We were making our way towards Lexington Kentucky to do some bourbon drinking but it was still a little too far away to do in a single drive. We spent the day driving through the winding roads of the Appalachian Mountains. When we entered Kentucky I was surprised at how foresty it was. Just 10 miles north of Lexington, the Kentucky Horse Park is dedicated to showcasing the region's long equine history and highlighting the multiple horse breeds within the state. The complex is huge and really well done. I started with a horse-drawn (black Clydesdales) trolley ride around the grounds.
