... to stand in line to try to get a backcountry permit for us (he was successful). He brought me a vanilla latte, went on 2 beautiful hikes with me, gave me a new sleeping bag (i fell in love with one in REI last week), and took me out for birthday pizza (where we both somehow received free beer)! I was so excited to see bighorn sheep, mountain goats--they were actually on the trail just a few feet away from us, and my 3rd grizzly sighting of the summer--he was splashing ...

... as we roll by at 80mph. ... or maybe a wee bit more ;)
One more stop for gas and a switch in positions and Jim is on point and leading the charge to the hotel. Can't wait to get there! The temperature when we stopped for lunch was 96F! Might be a travel day with the top up and the AC on tomorrow. You know! I bought a convertible for a reason, but seriously! We are in the frigging desert!

... The land was really flat just like Saskatchewan but we passed through a few really nice ravines and canyons. As we were cruising at about 120km/ph an extremely loud squealing noise, smoke and smell was coming from the engine so we quickly pulled over to find the air conditioning belt was slipping. I tightened it up and we carried onto the next town to get some anti slip spray. The shop didn't have any but I did find the belt had ...

... so the kids could dry some in their cool food dryer. What a great time we had! Then we picked up Vivian at school and went back to the house.
