We transitioned to a campground near Abilene today.
After we got set up we met Kay, her daughter, Alicia, and Alicia's kids for a late lunch at Abuelo's. We had eaten there last year and loved their enchiladas - especially their spinach and avocado enchiladas.
... around the trailer is a must. Well, today, we noticed that the bumper on the trailer was "broken" at the weld. Seems like our bikes on the bumper were too heavy, or the constant "bouncing" because of the rough roads was a no no. So... What's the solution? Take the bikes off. Good thing we had room in the truck. That is where the bikes will now travel for the rest of our trip. Had a good night sleep after all ...
... indeed. With that in mind, the town commissioned a lot of sculptures to be placed throughout the downtown area. The primary theme was that of Dr. Seuss characters. We had a fun afternoon walking around and seeing the sculptures and taking a tour of the Grace Museum. We would recommend a stop in Abilene if you ever get to the Texas ...
As I write this, we've been home for several weeks now. It's been hard to sit down and finish this blog once we got back home - and then had to prepare for going back to Austin again for our youngest daughter's 21 Sep wedding.
By this point in our trip, we were ready to get back to Austin to see the kids and grandkids. Abilene was just a quick overnight stop, and we were on the road again.
... our family's shining moment - I dropped Iris' plate of food, then she later freaked out about a bug she saw on the table. But we still enjoyed the moment and had a good laugh.
Talked to some of the people staying at the park for some ideas about where to go and stay next, mostly because we feel completely lost and not sure where we should go next.
