Back to the cold and wet
... falling nearly all the way to Lappeenranta. As if by magic, though, it subsided to a misty drizzle as we alighted, which didn't help much, as the temperature was only 12 degrees. A half hour walk had us in our hotel looking for the highlights of the town. The literature revealed little so we ventured out into the cold to see if we could find anything of interest. ... es wieder eine Stunde früher, und um 21:30 sind wir in Lappeenranta in einen großen, bequemen Hotel mit sehr gutem Restaurant und Bar, ziemlich kaputt zwar, aber sehr zufrieden über einen wirklich außergewöhnlichen, spannenden Trip.
Nur leider ohne Photo vom östlichsten Zipfel der Ostsee.
Außerdem war der Tag strahlend sonnig und viel wärmer als zuvor, bis zu 19 Grad!
Hoffentlich hält's Wetter!

In the Middle of Nowhere Finland

Imatra is not your typical tourist destination.. but I wasn’t going there to “get off the beaten track”. My family originated in that small town.. so for me it was more of a pilgrimage of heritage. Although most of my family moved to Australia in the 1960s.. my aunty Saara still lives there to this day.

Vähäisestä nukkumisesta huolimatta loppumatka meni nopeasti ilman suurempia väsähtelyjä. Olen oiken ylpeä Matista, kun jaksoi ajaa niin pitkän matkan ja itsekin ihmetteli, pitäiskö harkita rekkakuskin uraa ;-)
Nyt on sitten edessä miulle työt ja Matille rekisteröinnit, katsastukset ja muut pienet säädöt auton kanssa. Ja verolasku tulee varmaan perässä. Mie sitte saan "uuden" vanhan auton alleni ja Rellu pääsee omaan kotiin. Happy ending! Mummo ja Pappa rules!
