... to ourselves, with table, and a massive window - so so worth it!! The views were AMAZING!! We left Bergen in reasonable weather conditions, and as the train gained altitude, it got noticeably colder outside as we started to notice snow. By the time we got to 1200 metres +, there was about a foot of snow - and this is just October! It was beautiful up there!! The train luckily stopped quite a few times, and ...
Voss, Western Fjords, Norway kathryn77... doing nursing and teaching English. She was off to Greenland when I left her. Anyway I took the Flam train on the 5th and it was beautiful because you climbed the mountains and viewed all of Flam, passing through cloud and into the mountain, it was better than the oslo to bergen train and it lasted a very short hour. I am back in Oslo now to begin the next leg of my journey and am finally washing my clothes.<br>Bye!
Utne, Hordaland, Norway tengen7/4 <br>We were happy to be leaving Oslo, all the heat and noise and expense! Our destination today is the small town of Flam at the tip of a fjord in the heart of Norway. We had planned to take the “scenic” route not knowing that the whole country is spectacular! The lakes, rivers, fjords and mountains carve the roads of Norway. We drove on small curving roads, past shear rock cliffs and towering waterfalls, alpine lakes and deep gorged fjords (huge salt water ...

Eidfjord, Western Fjords, Norway ggtortSo I had come to Norway to stay with my friend Lise Marie, no particular plans in mind but some ideas. We ended up going with her cousin on this incredible 3-day road trip, which is hands down one of the best experiences of my life. We grabbed some sleepings bags and pads to sleep on, some food and set off to I don't even know where. I don't know the slightest bit of Norwegian so I didn't understand nor remember ...
Flåm, Sogn og Fjordane, Norway alifebeinglived... may have been Portuguese. I'll have to investigate more later ... Sat next to Sue on the bus, a lady from Oakland that now resides in the Napa Valley. She happens to be on a Rick Steves tour, as are many others on the Nutshell tour today. We compared our travel notes over the years - she actually visited Poland, Romania, and Russia when she was a young child, during the Cold War era. It was part of some musical school ...
Aurland, Western Fjords, Norway pwong... There was one part where peope had built a walkway along the side of a huge rock that was in the river. We walked onto this precarious walkway and realized that if it did give way that we would be in the river. It was fairly steady and it was a great place to sit and rest for awhile. The water was very cold but being sucha hot day it would have been nice to jump in fully. We got to the bottom and returned our ...
Flam, Norway beautiful_freak... and thought I saw some ducks diving only to discover that in fact they were dolphins!! Swimming about 50 meters away from us. We tried catching up with them but they had other things on their agenda, and weren't particularly interested in entertaining us. Eventually started heading back to Flåm cutting our kayaking short by a couple ...
